I am looking at buildin a sohc motor for boost but trying to keep my car drivable while doing so. So. I have a d16a1 that i would like to run the vitara pistons in with fj dist. custom rods. And than i have a Z6 vtec head. Would this be a decent combo for a build? I am unsure about what block/piston/head combos are good for boost. And just wanna start out with something that will be able to be in a DD and still handle some track times. Thanks.

 

D16a1 bottom ends are twin cam bottom ends out of 86-89 acura integra's, not single cam's the head won't bolt up without custom machining if im not mistaken. The FJ rods are good rods but that block and head won't bolt together

 

I'll have to look to see exactly what block that is cause you were right, the D16A1 is a dohc motor. I did not know that. I was just going on what my buddy had told me cause the block is at his place.
