good or bad to switch from b16 in a hatch to turboed sohc vtec?
right now i have a b16 in my 93 cx hatch, i want to go turbo but will not have the money up keep with a turbo on this motor, would it be a bad idea to turbo a sohc or just stick with the b16? i run mid 14's with my b16 now could i have comparable times with a sohc motor?

keep up w/ a turbo??? on a b16?? if you are planning to sell the b16 to get money for a d16 and a greddy kit or hks kit i would say just keep the b16. Then when you get the money turbo that and stay at low boost levels till you get the means to build the motor. If you like the idea of turbo dont sell a strong motor to lose power to have the challenge of breaking even again.
My idea is to save a lil and make a custom kit. heres some ideas off the top
t3 100-200 (used and make sure you got something nice...off a thunderbird or something)
manifold 100-250 (get it off a guy who went tubular)
wastegate 45 (i went tial so you can get mine....or find your own)
IC 65-500 (starion conquest..ig ot one for 65, greddy about 5bills)
pipes... about 250 (custom job)
bov 50-250 (used ebay is full of um)
downpipe 150 (i got mine made for that...or talk to arturbo)
maplink 80 (talk to ben)
pump 100? (if you are a b16 get a gsr one for cheap)
fpr 100 (aeromotive,paxton or...vortech fp riser)
msd add that for some fun and safety....
take your time and make a kit...it will be more enjoyable to make your OWN kit.
thats about 1200.oo and its not that hard to find the parts, just know what you are buying.
a couple lil things like gauges and lines but....
good luck and keep that b16 or go LS motor if anything

look for mid to high 14's with the turbo sohc with modest boost settings. If I were you I would wait and boost the B16, you'll be happier in the long run.
