I was racing on the freeway when at about 125-130 the temp started to go up and when I got home I can hear the sound of steam or boiling water in the overflow tank. Did the head lift and the hg break its seal and need to be replaced?

car is a crx with a d16z6 tdo5h at about 6 psi

About 100 bucks for ARPs and about 90 for a Cometic gasket.

I got my D16Y8 ARP head studs for like $90 from http://www.lightningmotorsports.com

I use stock head gasket ( d16a6 ) with the $100 arps, but I already have low compression. The $90 cometic isn't MANIDITORY, but it will help by lowering the compression.

$130 total if you use the stocker
$190 toal with the cometic

You may wanna get new timing belt and a few other things while your that deep in the motor.

Has going to need a new intake gasket, $11.

9.6:1 (or 9.2:1 if you've got a Z6) is already perfectly fine for boost. Don't lower the compression via a HG, go with an OEM gasket and copper spray and you'll be fine *IF* you do it all correctly.

not necessarily... you can get cometics in stock thickness... they're not all lower cr.

If your going to get the stock thickness, its pointless to pay 3 times as much.... My A6 head gasket handles 10psi daily, and has seen 16-17psi spikes...

Haha been holding 10psi fine. Damn thing even had 160K on it. I just dont know The only thing i do know is that it was free.

ha, maybe if you wouldn't off taken it up that high you might still have a headgasket in tact. If you drive the car normally it won't just blow out on you. Well atleast from my experience atleast. But ARPS and a new headgasket, 3 hours for the work, and you are back on the road for more boost.

yup... ur about to replace it again too
