Whenever I come to a stop (say for a red light) smoke emits from my exhaust. It looks blueish so I guess that means oil but I have no oil leaks, my compression is perfect, the motor has only 2,000 miles on it. I don't have a cat though, could that be the cause? It doesn't smoke while I'm driving, just when I come to a stop. My idle is surging up and down, which is another issue (I think I have narrowed that down to TPS) but I doubt that has anything to do with it. The car also smells like exhaust fumes, and it smells horrible for people driving behind me. It's awful. If this is all the cause of no cat, I think I may just have one installed.

check your PCV valve

also double check your oil return line, if it gets kinked it will probably smoke at idle.

Thanks guys! The return line seems to be striaght. What exactly should I check on the PCV valve. I also noticed a little bit of smoke in the engine bay coming from that area, so that very well could be it.

Hoosier, my car does the saem at idle from a stop and under boost, my seals are going bad, so maybe for u too, sorry for the both of us

Turbo seals? I had that in mind as well

Just pull it an look for clogs or oil....if it looks bad replace. <$10 for the part and 1 miniute to replace.

Its a valve, so it should let air flow freely one way and restrict the other. If it doesn't flow too well, then you've found your problem. I also read that a good PCV valve clicks when shaken.

Some PCV valves are spring loaded, and will not click when perfectly functional. Examination of the piston's travel will reveal if it's still good.

If your turbo's seals are passing oil, it's pretty cheap for an easy to install bearing and seal kit. Just make sure you don't have oil passing into your intake tract, pls.

So I should pull my upper IC pipe (going into the throttle body) off and check for oil? Would that be the best way to check?

That part is consistant with having no cat, its going to smell like CRAP!

your surging idle is prob-ally your iac valve.[idle air control] try to take it apart and clean it.or buy anew one.
