Default Get JRSC chromed

Is it a good idea to get the JRSC fully chromed? Also the inside of the manifold and the blower housing? How about the rotors? The teflon is off, get it chromed?

A friend will do everything for $50, so the cost doesn't matter.

Why?

The kit is currently painted black. I like it, but the paint doesn't look good any longer, so i have to strip the paint. So why don't get it chromed? It's not for showoff or bling-bling, even it looks good. The air flow could be also better. But i don't know if it really improves the air flow and if it's heat resistance. How hot is the air on the boost side? This is what i wanted to know.

And can it be chrome on the rotors or must it be teflon?

i say go for it! dip that sucker!

be sure to take apart the housing and get all the gears chromed too. get a few extra belts for the supercharger and alternator and have him chrome those as well.

you can scrape off some teflon from some pots and pans and glue it onto the rotors after you chrome them.

(this reminds me of the thread where a guy scratched his hood on a VW and he asked if sandpaper would take it out and someone said yeah get some 80 grit and it will come right out.. guy comes back and says thanks the scratch is gone but how to get rid of the scratches from the sandpaper.... CLASSIC!)

(9:25 AM 8/31/2003) Andre: Thanks for the replay
Any reason why i shoudn't get the JRSC chromed?

(9:25 AM 8/31/2003) falconGSR: yes. lots of reasons.

(9:25 AM 8/31/2003) falconGSR: DONT DO IT

(9:27 AM 8/31/2003) Andre: Please tell me the reasons

(9:28 AM 8/31/2003) falconGSR: if you really want to have that chrome look, have ONLY the intake manifold chromed, and make sure you dont screew up any of the holes for the injectors or bolts, or the surfaces that bolt to the head or the supercharger. there is NO REASON at all to chrome the supercharger itself. you cant even see it when its installed.

(9:28 AM 8/31/2003) falconGSR: you would have to completely disassemble it to have just the housing chromed. you CANNOT chrome the rotors you will be left with a shiny piece of junk.

(9:29 AM 8/31/2003) Andre: Ok, there is no reason, but will it be bad?

(9:30 AM 8/31/2003) Andre: When i have the gaskets on it when i get the manifold chromed and then remove them everything will be fine?

(9:31 AM 8/31/2003) falconGSR: yes. very bad. i dont see how you could chrome anything inside the supercharger without ruining the clearances between the rotor and housing.

(9:32 AM 8/31/2003) Andre: Currently the teflon is completely off, so why don't get the rotors chromed?

(9:33 AM 8/31/2003) falconGSR: ok man do it then. good luck and let me know how it goes.

---

maybe i dont know what i am talking about

dude...just have the outside chromed if you want the bling...I would not trust any of that **** on the inside, ESPECIALLY if its directly on the intake. If that **** starts to flake or melt, it will get into your engine and you will have other issues on your hands....

If you gotta do **** to the rotors then have them polished....but don't put ant chrome **** on anything on the inside!!!

just get it polished, I don't see how ANYONE can do EVERYTHING you said for $50 USD. Do you know what kinda of work goes into chroming something? The acids bath, copper plate, nickel, etc... no way for $50, is he using spray paint?

I don't know who is being seriuos around here or not....
but anyways, the teflon coating on the rotors is to help prevent against detonation.... If you want to chrome anything, just chrome the oustide part of the manifold..... chroming anything else is going to be pointless, and plus even if you chromed anything on the inside you wouldnt see it, so what purpose would it serve, plus like everyone elses says dont mess with the internal parts, you may do damage or make matters worse.....

If you really want to spend money and have some chrome look plus functionality just buy the LHT intercooler, which completely replaces the manifold and is very shiny.....

Good luck...

i had a chrome plated car amplifier once upon a time. it was an old Rockford Fosgate. the thing ran hotter than hell after it was chromed. or maybe it was nickel plated...i dont remember, except that it was really a hot amp.

What is so funny about improving the performance and look of the JRSC?

if you want to chrome it than just do the outside. Making something chrome is done for looks only. Chrome has no functionality. So you are better off leaving the inside alone. If you chrome the inside I'm pretty cretain the chrome WILL flake off into your combustion chamber.

EXACTLY!!

Don't Go ASKING us if It will Be Bad to Chrome the INSIDE of the Manifold and then When people get on your case a tad(for your engines sake!) when you wanna know WHY it's bad to chrome everything even the Internal..........Ahh Never Mind..... Chrome away you'll Prolly Gain 10Hp with all that Heat retaining Chrome. (jeez)

Yes, it is polished. The idea behind polishing something is getting a smooth surface, and will chrome not be even smoother?

You guys think little flakes of chrome plating coming off and going into his engine are going to matter?!? That will be the least of his problems if he chromes the rotors and insides of the housing...

The housing and rotors would get scraped to hell.

Chrome will notwithstand the heat of the JSRC's internals.

Also the chrome will take up the clearance given between the rotors, and it will swiftly flake off and can damage your internals (not to mention the JSRC)

Polishing is your only option, but if it's done incorrectly, could put the tolerances out of spec and defeat the purpose...

ahaha, this reminds me of when my old fat *** roomate wanted to get a hatch and put a b18c5 in it, he said the first thing he would do was "Get the red head ported & polished", I almost died laughing, and he actually bragged that he knew about cars
