Take a look at this site: http://www.dune-buggy.com/turbo/turbo.htm. Most of the older volvo I found at the junkyards are T3 .48 AR Turbine .42 AR Comp. Oil and water cool. Most older one only oil cool.

It is a T3. I've seen them with .48 and .63 turbine housings. They all have stage 1 turbine wheels. Every one that I've seen has a .42 a/r compressor housing. They all either have a 45 trim or 50 trim compressor wheel.
Most of the ones I've seen are:
.48 a/r exhaust housing
Stage 1 wheel
Oil cooled center section
.42 a/r compressor housing
50 trim compressor wheel
That turbo will spool up pretty quick and make respectable power on a D series or non-VTEC B series engine. Of course, a T3/T4 or bigger T3 will whoop its ***, but for the price, Volvo turbos are good starter turbos.

does anyone else have experience with this turbo on a stock ls vtec? i rev to 7500 (rod bolts i know). if it would still hold to 7000 that would be great at 10 psi? anyone?

You got a pic of the turbo. I am running a 50 trim T3 from a Volvo right now. Spools fast as hell. Not enough turbo to pull a Vette but it is a good 250HP turbo. Perfect street turbo, great powerband. Seems like you just added 150 HP all over the stock powerband.
According to the numbers it is well done by by 5700rpm. Keep that in mind.

Why couldn't you have started your own thread??
Better yet, why couldn't you have searched for a thread with info, rather than for a thread to resurect?

do you mean it has lost its efficiency pas 5700? so its going to have nothing at abut 7500?

Going by the map it is well into the sub 50% efficiency range when run at 13psi and more than 6000rpm. I do run it up higher but you can tell it doesn't pull as hard up there as it did down low.
