Garrett 4bolt turbine T3/T04e Clearance Problem!
Running an Inlinepro T3 Manifold:
I was talking to Stan from Inlinepro today and he said that I would have clearance issues with this turbo on the block. I would have to shave a considerable amount off. Like not just a tad. I'm going to go in there Monday with the mani/snail and put it on one of thier blocks to see exactly the clearance issue. I kinda checked myself today by just placing the turbo over the block (still has header on) and It looks as if it will not fit at all.
If this is too much, I just think I'm going to buy myself a civic half-core radiator, lose my AC, and run the compresssor on the driver's side. I'm getting the DP custom made, so it'll actually be easier/straighter.
Anyways, question is. Is anybody running a Garrett with 4 bolt turbine on a InlinePRO/Revhard Manifold with the compressor on the passenger side? How much of the block did you nip? Mine is in a B18B Integra. But I'm willing to hear instances from any setup. Thanks.

I believe with the .60 Housing, some have had to shave a bit off their blocks and some Tial WG may not quite clear the valve cover and may need some trimming as well....
Go to http://www.jackmoves.com, go to the Turbo section and you'll get an idea what some of the minor "issues" they ran into also...

I ran a rev hard manifold and now inline pro withe a garret 4 bolt t3/t4. I had to shave a considerable amount off the block, a lot of webbing, that tab, and I even shaved a slit into the coolant plug/screw thing to allow the turbo to clear. When I was shaving it, I was scared that I was going to shave through the block, but luckily enough I got the turbo in their. There's like 1/16" clearance in a lot of places. If you decide to do it just take your time and take off a little at a time and test fit.

If its an e housing forget it...to much to shave u'll have no block left. A b housing u can just notch out a web from the block.

Buy my manifold...no shaving needed at all!! Thats odd that inline didnt design their manifold to not have to shave so much off the block

I guess drivers side compressor it is..
Would a civic radiator be sufficient enough? ..or would a new halfcore Fluidyne/PWR radiator be what I need?
No boost for me this winter. Gotta wait until I'm done spring semester.

still learning about the dark-side
same turbo, manifold and wastegate but on a b16a2, any clearnace issues?
When purchasing this particular turbo, do you have to specify 4 bolt? If so why?
I've read about using pusher fans instead, would this help you/us out

Yeah, it's because of the 4bolt turbine housing. It's wider and therefore pushes the compressor out a little farther.. running it right into the most extended part of the block. It's going to be alot of shaving. I was just wondering if anybody actually did shave all of this off?

I guess i got lucky with my drag manifold, i have about 3 miles between the block and compresor, but it's a pain because i have to relocate my wg......issues with the hood and wg meeting

Hmmm, this has me wondering... I have the inline pro manifold and am planning on mating it to a T3/T04E .57 trim .63a/r w/ 4-bolt turbine - am I to understand this won't clear the block w/out a fair amount of shaving? (B18C1)

I have the same exact setup as you. Never mocked it up yet though. Guess i'm definitely mounting the compressor on the driverside and using an elbow with the Tial...

I went into Inlinepro today and test fitted the turbo/manifold on the block. Stan and John said they created the manifold based on the 5 bolt design because thats what 90% of the turbos out there are.
Anyways: It looks like a TON of shaving. So much that it looks as if it's going to go through into the flywheel housing. I don't want that either. Stan told me to try and get another turbo. So yeah - I really want to know if anybody has actually got one of these turbos in there. They're set to the left a half inch more then the 5 bolt. Drivers side compressor it is. No more A/C for me.

I also have the same problem, t3/t4 4bolt design .60 a/r housing with a Revhard iron cast manifold.. a big chunk of the block webbing would have to be shaved

how about a list of combination turbos and manifolds that fit the b18c1 and b16a2 that do not require shaving of the block....anyone?

any idea when the apexi kit is coming for the b18 and b16?

I was thinking about purchasing one of these turbos in the near future too ... does anyone know where I can find a Garrett T3/T04e turbo with the 5 bolt exhaust housing?
