garratt gt17 on dohc?
whats up Honda tech. I just picked up a garratt gt17 turbo which is a tiny turbo used in mostly german cars. I got mine from a saab 93, or 95. whatever. its a tiny turbo with a wastegate on it which I think only lets up 12psi. my question is, can I use this turbo on a Honda dohc such as a b18 non v without issues such as over spooling the tiny snail?
the reason I want to use this baby turbo is because I really just want a low boost daily driver. I want to boost the stock engine without upgrading the internals. I want a quick spool, and reliability. (or as much reliability as I can get from boosting a stock engine :/ )
I was going to grab the turbo and mani from my old tsi that a friend now owns and has sitting it his yard, but got the turbo about free so if I can use it I want to.
any info, advice, or experience with this turbo or similar junkyard turbo builds is greatly appreciated. and keep the negative stuff to yourself. if I could afford a nice new t3/t4 I would get one, but this is what I have.

Re: garratt gt17 on dohc?
that turbo will do well to produce 200hp.
The only person I know running a gt1752 is on a b16 and it made 180hp and it was all midrange, no top end at all.
I have a gt1752 sitting around as well, it would never work well on a dohc honda. A single cam non vtec d15 or d16 sure, but the turbine wheel is too small, the turbine housing is too small, which will cause huge amounts of pre turbine backpressure, killing whatever fuel economy the motor might have

not to mention that the tiny internal wastegate flapper could never bypass enough exhaust gas to maintain any sort of pressure levels, you'd have an insane amount of creep, to the point of boost being uncontrollable. you'd have to run an external wastegate to even begin to control boost levels

OP, you seem to have a LOT of misconceptions regarding boost, boost levels in relation to turbo size, and how it all works. You don't use a small turbo to run low boost - that's only begging for disappointment.
