The Garage That Never Sleeps..
I had my digital camera with me tonight, so I thought i'd share with my FI friends some pictures of a garage that I always hang out at almost every night of the week.
The garage - Zero Start. Open from 7pm - 5am (yes, 5am!!) The owner of the garage used to be one of the head mechanics for Spoon Sports in Japan a couple years ago (he's 100% thai) - Spoon met him here in Thailand while competing in a Honda-only race, and they lost to this guy - so they hired him
His garage is small, but its enough to do engine work and get an engine swap done.
The Corolla you see in the picture is currently getting a B18C-R engine swap
This is one of the fastest street-driven NA Honda's that he's ever modified. B18C block, B18C-R tranny, Toda cams, 12.5:1 compression ratio, 10500rpm redline, PowerFC, and a whole lot of special modifications he made to the head which he won't tell me. This little EF has killed a T67 powered Supra from 0-160km/h! (traction and supras don't go well together) Oh yeah, that EK sedan parked beside it is my car hehe
...but with all that power comes a price - the owner of that EF destroyed his engine a couple days ago. His piston just blew up and kinda destroyed his B18C shortblock. Apparently, he'll be upgrading now to a B20B block with F20B pistons
The garage is situated on the side of a very empty (at night) and long 3-lane road, so a lot of the people that go to the garage at night to drink up and chat sometimes have mini-street races - its quite fun
I don't do my integra at this garage, but he has done small modifications to my B20B/B16A Civic engine - some headwork, and his own ECU, which creates enough power to put a smile on my face
Just curious as to whether you guys have any garages like this in the US..

Re: The Garage That Never Sleeps.. (Daniel)
Daniel: thanks I took it just before I was about to leave and go home - sat the camera on the front of my hood, set the timer + slow shutter speed, and just as it took the pic, a bus went past
LsTurbo91: nah, we got the same rims only that his rims are 15's, and mine are 16's. He has a set of white 15" desmond evo's with Nitto NT555R's which he uses for drag racing, and those enkei's which you see in the pic are for daily use.

I used to always hang out at our local shop Elite Autosport every day, just hanging out and woking on cars. I'm good friends with the owner and all the employees and we just used to work on eachothers cars, have fun on the dyno and play LAN games on the network at the shop. I've even spent the night there a few times.

Re: The Garage That Never Sleeps.. (turbopanda)
I just got a garage. I will do my best imitation of zero-start by keeping it open all night and working on b18c5 corollas. I'll even paint a cartoony civic on my garage wall too.
Nice picts.

Re: The Garage That Never Sleeps.. (mos)
mos: its not a USDM ITR engine, its a JDM ITR engine!! - JDM engines don't have the "Cx" bit guess you wont be able to copy his concept exactly then, unless you can get your hands on a JDM ITR engine..
B18EG6: Just a crappy Sony CyberShot DSC-P50 2.0 megapixel camera - I try and make do with what I have.. guess I fluked that picture

If only I could have something like that here in the midwest. No such thing here, hell I am luck if the shop even knows what the part is I am looking for. Then in turn I have to hope they dont charge tripple to quadpurable the price I can get it for here at good old HT. Awsome pics

i wish there was a cool garage like that open at nite here. my cousin owns a garage in the city but it's just a "normal" repair shop with "normal" hours. my 2 car garage has been downsized to a 1 car cuz of all the old crap in there that needs to be thrown out
that spoon civic on the wall is cute as hell. ima paint one on the wall when i have a kid

the small messy shops like the one above are the best ones. the exhaust shop i go to look sjust like it, except with an old exhaust pile about 10x15x5. yet the work is good

Re: The Garage That Never Sleeps.. (SiRkid)
i think its a good idea to have a shop open like that because most get off work at about 5-6pm and they would never have time to go to a shop except for the weekends. and sometimes it just can't wait that long.

Great hours, good competent mechanic, lots of spare parts (seat, intake manifold, alternator, what looks like an AC compressor, fuel rails, etc.) I wish I had the money to start one....
You lucky bastard.

Re: The Garage That Never Sleeps.. (SiRkid)
very cool..nothing around here is open past 5-7 pm.. pisses me off sometimes
My shop kinda looks like the ones in the picture, maybe not quite that messy, a little bigger, and we have a lift and a dyno. Motors are currently strewn all over the place, it's rediculous how busy we are right now. Mase has pics somewhere...we used to let people hang out all the time, but we had to put a stop to that, it just plain got out of hand, and it was effecting work.
