Default FULLY BUILT with a really bad problem

Well I have a fully built motor lower compression sleeved and i'm running a garrett T57 and well maybe I got a little carried away and decided to run 15 PSI but still thats normal for a Built motor well by doing that I got a clicking noise after I ran it a couple of times and I dont know what it is I thought It was my valves I adjusted them it wasn't that it's comming from the #1 cylinder side

The sound comes from like where my timing belt is at and I dont think its the rod cause when I drive it fine but when idling it sounds a little bad maybe it could be the oil pump not sure

CAN SOMEONE HELP OUT

What engine is it? if its vtec it could be the LMA's... (lost motion assemblies) they hold the vtec lifters against the cam when the vtec is dissengaged and can stick making them noisey.

Were you tuned? Or did you just take a fully built motor out and boost on it b/c it is fully built and doesn't need a tune?

15psi is nothing for a built motor, if you had it tuned, if not and start rebuilding...

I had it tuned but not dynoed it was just street tuned but still trying to figure out what it is. I have AEM EMS and I think I'm getting rid of it for Hondata.

damn man, now i feel bad for you... Street tuning should have been more than enough for those low numbers.

who built the motor, what are the clearances, etc...

Don't get rid of your AEM just find someone that can tune it.

If you have a straight LS i have the same problem. My head makes a ticking noise all the time, especially when its cold. I believe its just the head out of wack and i need either another good valve adjustment or something else. And this was right after being tuned on the dyno with hondata.

I have benson sleeves/wiseco pistons/eagle rods. Its just something I live with since my vtec conversion will be done really soon here.

Check for exhaust leaks. An exhaust leak from the head flange sounds like a tick.

Do a compression test. That'll more than liely tell you if you've busted a ring land or not.

Do a simple 5 minute compression check and you'll either be happy as a fly in **** or feel like you've been kicked in the nuts by an NFL fieldgoal kicker. Hope for the first one.

The exact same thing happened to me, but I had a stock bottom end. Well I kept checking my valves and head components in denial that it was the bottom end until my #1 connecting rod bolt broke off and peices of the rod blew through my block. Check the bottom end!

Well I had my block done at bensons its sleeved with eagle rods and wiseco pistons and a little over bore. I just built it in august and now it looks like im going to put another $1,000 in it to fix cause im just gonna take it to a machine shop and they will put new bearings and fix the problem for $800 so I just rather pay that than pay double later on.

I take it you got it done by earl? Have you talked to him at all? I would THINK he would try to help you out, if it was just done and still screwing up.

was your car tuned up to 15 psi? cause if you were tuned to 6psi and decided that a "tune is a tune", then I'd like to see pictures of your motor once it's stripped apart.

I'll trade you straight up for a hondata s200 with boost. I'll even pay shipping both ways.

Any chance it could be piston slap? I have seen several sets of wiseco pistons that slap a little, but it should go away when warm. Just a possibility.

what kind of turbo manifold are you running? look for a crack in the exhaust.

do the old indian trick and put a screwdriver, or metal pole on different spots of the motor and see if you can locate the tick. i would suggest doing a compression test. the wisecos have pretty damn thick rings, and ringlans so i doubt its the pistons, unless you did boost 15lbs on a 6lbs tune. maybe your pistons are hitting your oil squirters if you have any. maybe it is just piston slap. i doubt its a bent valve cause the deep *** valve reliefs in the wiseco's. i hope you got the wrist pin locks in the groove all the way, if not i can show you pictures of what happens when you dont....... or when you use spiral locks. but oh well, i put my 2 in, so good luck
