For a smallish T3/TO4B I would expect 5 psi at about 3500-4000 RPM's. First gear does not place as much load on the motor (motor does not have to work as hard to accelerate) so you do not make boost as quickly, and lots of times do not make full boost in first gear.

hahaha.... I've noticed 1'st is mostly used for getting the turbo spinning, so it's ready for second gear

Sounds like you need to turn the boost up

Wheel spin in a turbo honda naaaahhhhhh never.
I have a 60 trim T3 and I only make a few psi in first and have full boost (.8 BAR) by 3800 in second (if the tires will hook).

Yes... even at over 5K... I'm thinking my bov maybe leaking.. im going to take it off... and run without it... I was told 5 psi won't hurt anything...

Re: (scartail)
its harder to build boost in 1st gear, but not imposible. just might not build full boost. if you arent building any, you have some probs that need to be looked into or youre turbo is too big

Re: (itr206)
I figured it out!!! Awesome... I can get full boost in 1st gear (only 5 psi, though)...
I took my bov off and ran without it... what I thought was bov flutter was actually compressor surge... Then I mounted a bov that I pulled out of a volvo... Anyway... it feels good! I took the first bov apart and found it didn't used a diaphragm and no vacuum can hold the bov open... POS!... Anyway... I was so impressed with the volvo bov... I was at the junkyard to get some clips for some DSM injectors... I decided to grab another one... Clips and bov for 10 bux... I'm stoked...
