Fuel pump priming question..
Well, I guess this might belong here.. Anyway I have a 255lph pump and recently instead of priming for 4-5 seconds it will only prime for maybe 1/2 a second. Then I'll sit there and crank the motor and as the motor cranks I can hear the fuel pumps distinctive priming noise get lower and lower pitched and the car will fire up. If I turn the key off and back on the car will start right away.
The thing is I have maybe 1/8th a tank of gas in a 95 hatch. I know it could be potentially dangerous to drive the car on under a half tank, and I heard Walbro pumps like to be completely submerged. I don't want to go fill it up because my registration expired and I can't renew it until I pass emissions which is another obstacle..
Cliffs: Extremely short fuel pump prime, 1/2 to 1 second, could almost no gas in the tank cause this?

How is it wired, it could just be a main relay going bad. fuel level should have no effect on how long the pump runs it is determined by the pcm and activated via the main relay(on a stock vechicle)
