Default Fuel pressure regulator.

I have to run a vacum line from the zex management unit, to the fuel pressure regulator. I assume that i must disconnect the current vacum line that is on th fuel pressure regulator. Right?

So then my question is this, can i leave the un-used vacum line that i took off the fuel pressure regulator just the way it is, unplugged, and in the engine bay, with the other end of it connected to what ever it is connected to? Or must i disconnect it from where it goes?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
