Fuel injectors not working
I'm running an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump/filter/regulator and have 60 psi at the fuel rail, which is what Tony set it at when he tuned the car. The car will not start and I don't even get a fuel smell. I sprayed ether in the turbo and the car will fire for a second.
The fuel pump went out and I replaced it and the fuel filter. The car hasn't run since. I swapped the ECU out with a know good one, different program but I should have at least gotten fuel into the cylinders, and nothing.
Any suggestions? What runs between the ECU and the injectors that I should look at?
Thank you

Does the main relay click, and does the CEL do its ON, relay click, OFF procedure? Can you hear the fuel pump prime? It should be loud enough to hear over damn near anything.

Re: Fuel injectors not working
Injector will read 12V at both terminals if your multimeter ground is on the chassis. They work using an internal solenoid, once current passes through the coil it lifts the valve and lets fuel spray. In other words, the two terminals on an injector are connected internally, and thus will always have the same voltage potential across them when compared to the chassis.
Once the ECU grounds the injector current flows through it and creates a very small magnetic field which lifts the valve. Same principle behind a relay.
So in other words, having 12V on both terminals is an indication that, electrically, the fuel injector is working.
I would also check the imedance across the injector to verify that there is not an issue there. I believe low impedance injectors should test within the 2.5-3ohm area.
Being as you swapped in another ECU I doubt the injector driver in the ECU is bad, but it can be difficult to test that as well. Have you turned the pump on and cracked the fitting on the rail to physically see fuel getting there? Just because a fuel pump runs doesn't mean it's pumping.

You are talking about back probing... I was not. I was talking about removing the injector clip off the injector and testing that way.
In his original post he claims to have 60psi fuel pressure, but he hasn't verified if it still is getting 60psi. I've had a hose tear from snagging on the sharp edges of the tank and not know it. Pump made noise but no pressure. Good point.

Re: Fuel injectors not working
I replaced my fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and verified that I still have 60 psi when the pump is on.

Don't care about gauges, crack the rail and make sure fuel sprays out. Should take 5 seconds.

Gauges will hold pressure ended tho there isn't anything in there.
Remove the fuel like and turn pump on see if it sprays.
Also get a noid light and crank it ove rot see if your getting a pulse.
I had injectors that seem like they where opening but when I noid them the pulse was fine and turn out to be another problem.

I also disconnected the fuel line and am getting plenty of fuel pouring out.

Re: Fuel injectors not working
Have you pulled the injectors out to take a look at them?
The only thing between the injectors and the ECU is the individual signal wires. So it's either the injectors themselves that are all not working/clogged or your ECU has a blown injector driver.
You didn't have a power surge when the pump died did you?

Re: Fuel injectors not working
Has anything changed in your setup since when it was originally tuned and working properly? How long did the car sit for when it was down?
It is possible that a) the injectors are stuck closed which is likely able to be resolved with a cleaning or b) if anything at all changed in your system that your injectors may not be getting the proper signal for them to open when the ECU asks them to.
You can try pulsing the injectors using a 9v battery momentarily to hear/feel if they are clicking open and closed in response to a signal, that would at least tell you if they are opening and closing. You could also have them flow tested and cleaned if it is found to be necessary.
Good luck!

Re: Fuel injectors not working
I'm going to pick up a noid light on my way home so I can make sure they are getting a signal.
The car sat for a month or so in the trailer then wouldn't start. Before that it always fired right up.
Now it's been close to a year since it ran.
If the noid light shows they are receiving a signal then I'll try pulsing them with a 9v battery, thank you for that suggestion.

Re: Fuel injectors not working
Why not pull the injectors, power them up one by one with a 9V battery, its very simple to do and rules out injectors. they should click and you should be able to spray wd40 or the like through them without an issue. If they dont click or allow fluid to pass through then ita the injectors.

Re: Fuel injectors not working
The noid light showed they are recieving a signal. When I put a 9v battery on one it didn't do anything. I'm going to send them all out to be tested and cleaned.

Re: Fuel injectors not working
Ah ok now you're on to something. If you would like to have us test and clean the injectors for you please see this page for more info and to print a service form to be included with your injectors when they are sent in: http://fuelinjectorclinic.com/fuel-injector-cleaning
Also for anyone reading, we do have a recommended procedure to clean and store your injectors which is particularly important when using an ethanol based fuel like E85 or E98 but can apply to any injector that sits unused for a long period of time.
