can i tap my stock fuel rail for a fuel guage?plmk thankx

I tapped the end of a b16 fuel rail to 1/4 npt. The b16 ones are billet and have a brass plug at the regulator end, so I just drilled it out. I also have a b18 fuel rail but it was cast and there is no where easy to drill.
