Forged piston shopping..
Hey guys I need your help with looking for a good set of forged pistons..
I have a b18a1 block that has 84.5mm darton mid sleeves installed. I will be using a set of eagle h beam rods, a lightened ls crank and a GSR head.
My goal is to make 500whp on pump gas.. If you need anymore info just ask..

Re: Forged piston shopping..
I currently have a set of je pistons.. I am rebuilding due to a spun rod bearing. During the rebuild I noticed that piston # 2 and 3 ring grooves are too tight for the new rings. Seems like the pistons swelled or something..
Is this a common problem with forced induction engines ?

Re: Forged piston shopping..
A change in the piston diameter wouldn't affect ring gap. Ring gap is dependent on the circumference of the piston ring and cylinder bore diameter.
Ring tension is also a variable, but you should consider it a constant when determing ring end gap clearance by assuming it has the minimum tension to maintain contact around the entire diameter of the cylinder bore.
I would consider the alignment of the ring being out of square between the first and last measurement or a difference in the feeler gauges you used.

Re: Forged piston shopping..
The problem I have with my current pistons isnt due to the piston overall size being too large now..
When we installed the rings they are too tight top to bottom. It's like the rings are too thick to fit in the pistons. We measured every thing correctly too.

Is it common to show signs of detonation on the intake side of the piston near the ring lands??
Any body have pics of light detonation on pistons from a honda engine?
