Default FMU's?

With 5lbs. is an FMU safe to run as fuel management- a 12:1?

FMU's just ask for trouble...it might be ok but its really not worth the risk IMO. whats the rest of your set-up?

Will it work, yes (use a check valve also). FMU's are always a touchy subject. It will get you by, but at the same time you will have that worry in the back of your mind as to when will it fail on me.
If you have the menas, socket an ECU and run a better management. If not, then an FMU, stock injectors, and a check valve will work on 5 psi fine...the question is how long.

My thoughts:

If you're going to spend all that money getting boosted, spend the little extra money on a good tuning software so that your engine and turbo setup lasts long enough for you to enjoy it.

safe, yes, reliable, maybe, good for long term prob not. but at 5 psi, you will be fine. just upgrade the fuel pump or use an inline.

I would rather keep my engine safe and just get the proper fuel management. I was going to go FMU to with my build but decided after reading all the horror stories and opinions that it wasnt the way to go.

This stuck in my head..... FMU=*** Motors Up

For the setup, just an XS Power kit, nothing special, Autometer Boost gauge, Blox FMU, Missing Link... Just your basic kit I picked up locally for cheap. But really, I want to keep this investment, so I am searching for some type of tuning without a hassle or wait-

What kind of car do u have? You can get your ecu chipped and socketed for about 75 bucks (thats how much mine was anyways here in florida) and you can sell ur FMU and just get DSM 440's which are cheaper than the FMU. Then you all u have to do is take it to someone and tune it with crome pro. (since your going to have to get it tuned anyways whether u use an fmu or not) Personally i would just get the ecu u have now chipped and sell ur FMU and get DSM 440s and have a reliable, stable fuel managment.

You'll need a 90-91 PM6 ECU to chip it and run Turboedit

I may look toward the chipped ECU, but in Ohio it is hard to find someone capable of doing that, and as for DSM 440's, I am sure I can find those, and Slowmotionmotorsports is local so they can tune. But you believe this setup is stable and more efficient and safe rather than just an FMU?

Yes, chipping the ECU w/ 440s and tuning it properly is as safe and efficient as you'll get...keyword there was properly.

An FMU setup will get you by, a properly tuned setup is the best way to go
