FMU setup. How well will this work?
I really need help just getting my car running. Im running:
GE sleeved block
81.5mm 9.1 CP pistons
Full-Race rods
sc61
inline pro mani
2.5-3" flared dp
Tial 38mm wg with .5bar spring
odb1 injectors
I have Hondata and RC 750's, but wont have it tuned for a couple of weeks. I just want something to work so the car will be driveable. I was thinking of just throwing an FMU on for a while until the car gets tuned with Hondata. Will it run fine with the FMU, and what disk should I use. Thanks.

if you have a base map the FMU is useless...dont waste your money on that.. use that money towards the dyno runs and stuff
1 question.. since you had your motor sleeved.. why you stick to 81.5 slugs? i can understand if you had the slugs already bought from b4.. but.. if not i woulda atleast went oversized to 84.5mm slugs

Didnt want to go too big, leave a little room, just incase the sleeves got scratched again. I can always bore out again. I dont have a basemap for Hondata. It will be a couple of weeks before it gets tuned, and I would rather roll around for a couple of weeks on an FMU than a basemap. I was told it was alot safer.

they are both really just a shot in the dark. who knows which is closer. i would run the basemap because it will also pull timing making it safer.

Safest thing...stay outta boost for 2 weeks until the tuning session. Don't be dumb and blow it up, you are so close....

The fmu is designed to run with smaller injectors, or stock injectors rather. That's why it's a rise rate. If you are simply gonna use those huge 720's with an fum, you first of all won't have a way to control the fuel at idle and secondly you will run super rich when in boost.
Edit: I just read that you have obd1 injectors. You should be able to get away with using those injectors and an fmu, and you'd prolly want to use no less than a 10:1 rise rate. If your injectors are obd1 lude ones, I'd say you can get away with an 8:1 rise rate. Still, I would wait to get that standalone tuned because you don't know what damages may be awaiting with an fmu! haha

So I can get away with running the fmu with a higher disc and the odb1 injectors until I can get Hondata tuned with the 750's. I plan on staying out of boost. I just want to be able to drive it safley to get a couple of things done. The tuner and dyno are a hour away too.

You wont need a FMU to drive around. Assuming you dont boost it wont need anymore fuel than stock. FMU starts adding alot of fuel when positive (Boost) pressure is added.
Plus if you have the 750s installed with a base map Im sure its rich already.

The safest thing would be to simply wait, but the answer is yes, you can use the obd 1 injectors with an fmu. That's what many people do and what many kits supply. You can boost with an fmu, but again, it may not be worth it for two weeks. If you're really keen on driving your car for the next while, just use the fmu with the smaller obd1 injectors and stay out of boost or better yet, just disconnect the charge piping at the throttle body hehe.
