first start?
EVERYTHING on this engine is brand new, i am getting it back this week and plan on having it all together and in the car by next weekend. is there anything i should do before and during the first start? is there a way prime the oil pump, so i dont start the engine w/no oil in it? also do i need to hold it over a certian rpm for a certian period of time to break anything in? i know of a lot of v-8 guys do this to seat the rings as well as other stuff.

well when u put the motor together you or who ver is doin it should put it togther with assembly lube or jes with some fresh oil. and besides that i dont think theres anything else to it. o and rthe appropriate break-in period would be 500-1000 miles. till then dont go above 3000rpms and go essy on the throttle.
EDIT well i jes read that ur having it put together. im sure they put some assembly lube in it so jes crank it up whenever yuor ready to start

I'm of the understanding that "not going over 3000rpm for 500-1000miles" or the like is complete trash. Will you always be driving your car at revs that low? Then why seat the rings in that manner...look around, but letting it idle for a while, then driving around pretty chill for a few miles just to make sure it's all good is right, but then you should get one it, bring it up to redline, then let up on the gas and let the revs drop down almost all the way and then repeat. this is what I would do.
