Default First 11 sec Vitara setup

Well for those who were waiting on an 11 sec or 300+ whp setup with vitara pistons..I am pleased to announce that someone i know, who's been running these pistons for over 3 years just ran last night at the track an 11.9 @ 117mph on a 2700lbs Civic DX coupe(driver weights 260lbs). His 60ft was 1.89 on slicks(24 X 8 X 13"). Seems like he will need bigger slicks cause the car still let the slicks loose all over the 1/4 run.

He dynoed 312whp and 300lbs/ft like a month ago.
The car is a D16y7 motor and the car still has A/C and P/S. The car retains its OBDII ECU and runs tuned just on an APEX AFC

The car was ran complete with all its seats and interior..Full exhaust too.

His setup is:
D16y7 block, D16Y7 head
Vitara pistons
Block guard
ARP Head studs.
D16Y7 tranny
Cluutchmasters STage 3 clutch

Head is ported and polished
Y8 Intake manifold(Also ported and polished)

Log manifold, T3 off a Volvo(.42/.48)...yeah its a freaking small turbo..running around 24PSI
Presicion 500hp intercooler
Tial WG
Greddy BOV
620cc Injectors
2.5"Downpipe and exhaust
255lph fuel pump
Aeromotive FPR

just letting you guys know.

My car should be next to be running 11's and 300+ whp...soooooon

What rods was he using on that setup? seems a bit high for that setup especially the AFC HACK since you only get maybe 6-10psi safely before the engine poops.

call BS till we see a slip.

If it is indeed that quick than

Lol... that isn't true about the hack. Its just that their are much safer ways to run. Remember that the compression of that motor is very low... so the ignition advance issue with the hack is sort of nullified... and he's pumping alot of fuel at it.

Knowing FJT, if his buddy still has the slip... he'll post it up though... no reason for him not to. Heh... if I have my way, i'll be close to that this year with my new kit.

that is downright nuts.
1. 312 whp 300lbs torque with that turbo and the afc
2. no vtec
3. 2700lbs

thats unbelievable

i will try to get the slip.

Everyone hates on the AFC, everyone hates on vitaras, everyone hates on everything that "seems" impossible..

out here we always find the way to make things work..Probably if you come here you will find tons of unveliable fast cars that runs with AFC/VAFC or other arcaic/old methods..

I have always said that for some reason, and i believe that is due to the facts that these pistons like timing, they always net good torque numbers.. Look at my setup..266whp and 240lbs/ft

john F ran 9.6x @ 156'ish on my 24.5's.....its not the slicks

Hi, I dont mean to steal this thread but I was wondering what the trick is getting your torque numbers so close to the Whp .

For instance, I have 293whp and 193TQ @12psi tuned conservatively
b16 block gsr head,
How do i get my torque higher? is it the turbo? or just the tuning? thanks

Low comp = easier to run more timing. Just like low comp usually = ability to run more boost. It just decreases the detonation threshold some... nothing really crazy to it.

the only reason they make closer tq and hp #s is because they rev lower...combine that with the smaller turbos used and you get big tq

Well i gues you cant run 24* of total timing at 18PSI on your setup without a sign of detonation and on pump gas with your setup...lol

thats what it means that they like timing..

why... you thought it was impossible or is it because everyone else says it is not possible?

there is no way this is true. this car with the over weight driver should only be good for 13.0.

D16's have a long stroke..good for making torque..and not revving it too high.
b16's have a very short stroke...makes a lot less torque, but good for revving it high...making a lot of hp but not much torque.

I think the coupe is lighter than your guessing because my 4dr weighs about 2700 without driver, and I ran a pile of 12.2's at the same mph as him with 50 more whp in a D16.

Eitherway, impressive on an AFC and pump gas, thats *****!
