Default Finally My turbo b16 DA9......!!!

I finally finished putting my turbo on my Integra the other night. Finally after about 2-3 years feeling the boost. I got held back a day b/c I broke the fuel pump nipple (there goes $125 down the drain). I still need to tune it. Im going to try and do something with it tonight or tomm.

Here is the setup with pics:

-JDM B16a
-GSR cams
-Sparks Racing Turbo manifold
-XS Power Super T70
-35mm wastegate
-3" Open DP for now
-2.5 Custom IC Piping
-28x9x2.75 FMIC
-450cc blue top injectors

-PR3 ecu( chipped with BRE )
-Moates Ostrich

Put it on a about 2 days ago and really havnet enjoyed it. Its doing a bunch of bucking and poping b/c its not tuned yet But im going to try and street tune it the best I can tonight and tomm night. But when she does it its sweet. Full boost around vtec which is 5200rpms for me. I love it. Im sure once tuned im looking at at least a 300whp potential. Im only running 10psi.

Ive used those clamps for 30 psi before with...well, a few problems. But they held once everything was adjusted. For some reason all the subaru intercooler kits come with **** clamps.

You really should have some sort of bead on the end of the pipe for them to be worth anything though.

Ditch the worm gears claps, run an air cleaner and a dump tube on that gate.
other than that looks good.

Is that a JDM bumper support? I had to cut the s@#t out of my usdm one. I would like to get one.

for turbo DA's

everyone is right about those clamps. They came with my couplings. The only clamps that are poping off are the ones on the hot pipe....coming from the turbo to the intercooler. I may drop by turbonetics on Monday and grab 4 from my boy Derrick.

Got a little bit more tunning in today before the laptop died on me. Cant wait for my 1st victim. I ran accross a 2002 mustang GT hooked up and a 30 yr old guy or so with a 2002 Saleen.....I was like ****.

Those clamp arent that bad if you put a bead on the pipes. I used to runs 24lbs on them had no issues. T-bolts clamps are better, but depending on your goals, those will due.

Dude, dont go into boost ANYMORE. Sounds way lean. Also, the clamps are OK as long as the end of the tuning is beadrolled. I use all T bolts on my setup except for 1 Wormgear drive (at the TB) and it never gave me any problems. If you can afford it upgrade the clamps, as well as the couplers. GET a filter on that turbo, and a dumptube on that wastegate (that dumptube will dump exhaust air right back into your turbo inlet) Dont buy a cheap filter eaither!

I would also paint all those exposed Charge pipes, and also i would clock the turbo so the oil inlet is straight up and down...

Nice to see the manifold worked out for you. Looks even better now that it has some color on it I have the IC pipes from my kit which are polished like the manifold, if your interested. PM me

there is a wide range of quality when it comes to worm clamps too. The worst are whatever kind comes on teh really cheap air filters. I think its jsut galvanised steel adn the clamping force before it strips is next to nothing. On the other end are the constant Tq worm clamps diesel trucks use.
I run these on my setup, NAPA has a nice version with a 5/8" wide band in full stainless.

I hear where your coming from mar778c but I beleive in doing everything yourself to fully appreciate it.

Bailhatch: I took your advice and welded a couple of beads on the end of the hot pipes. Seem to work great...thanx

K20EF8Dx: Im painting as we speak

HamiltonRex: I have pretty much tuned it on the street today. There are a few spots that needs some cleaning up but its no biggy. All the spots that are not right are all rich. I just borrowed a freinds laptop for 2 days and one of those days it rained the whole day......which was today. For the most part she is nasty. If everything works ok then im taking her to the dyno this weekend. Ill shoot some vids also. The problem I will have is the clearance issue with the k- Frame. I could get a Full-Race K-Frame but I dont have the money right now. I fabed up a 3" DP with my drag manifold so im sure I can do something. I may need to fabricate some sort of engine dampner.

I understand what your saying also. I built my car also, it is currently NA. But, I like others here would hate to see all of your efforts go to waste on a bad tune.

I recommended JDogg because I have seen and experienced his work on several cars. Also, i have seen several examples of bad tunes from others and how disapponinted to owners are after their motors blown up.

Besides after you get it tuned, you can look at the bin.

I will be ok. Im one of those put your mind to it and do anything you want pretty much. When I 1st start driving, it was bucking and leaning out at slight throttle. Now im cruising around 14.7 and full boost is a little rich around 11. I bought my ostrich, chip burner and wideband for a reason. I personnally dont trust anyone to touch my car but 2 people. Like I said I will hopefully take it to the dyno this Saturday.
