I would say for a street honda.. the Hondata is a BETTER system.

it is, is it not? the speed pro is a true standalone in and of itself, whereas the hondata is really not kinda sorta. i don't know. i just think it's odd that someone running speed pro would go to hondata.

Hondata is as much a standalone as speed pro.. Except Hondata has more features..
Hondata..
already has sequential fuel injection
nitrous control
idle control using factory IACV
AC control
datalogging
G sensor option
3 step rev limiter
Speed Pro is an awesome system.. but you have to rewire the car, you cant use the factory IACV to control idle, no AC control, you have to pay almost $1000 more for the sequential fuel injection. PLUS you have to have your tuner there in the mornings when you start your car to make sure you get the right warm up enrichment.
So like I said before for a street driven honda, Hondata cant be beat.

Wow, congrats. I knew that car would see 10's no problem.
I wonder what larger slicks would do for you. Did you have traction problems?
What RPM's where you taching going through the traps??
I have hope yet. I have a similiar setup and the cars weighs about the same. Im gonna try for 10's on 81mm though

Who says a "true" standalone is better than the debatable "true" standalone of hondata? Does that mean that SDS, TEC2, DFI gen 6, and Haltech are better than hondata? I don't think so, they're far from it! The only standalone that will run as good as a hondata on a honda is a motec, and i've still yet to see that happen. I'm sure autronic and DFI gen 7 can come close, but still won't be as good as a hondata. Everybody seems to have this "piggyback" idea in their head and they think it's not as good. Anyone who's tuned a few of them knows that it would take 5 times as long to make any other system run as smooth.

have you tried the 1/4 mile with street tires..? i don't think anyone runs 24.5 x 8.5 x 13 mickey thompsons on the streets...
regardless-10.898 is a badass time..!

Tony, I have a question for you, when you decide to switch to hondata, are you going to keep the msd digital 6 and the coil onboard? The reason I ask because I heard that hondata does not like to tune with msd boxes. Meaning that you can't get the full potential out of hondata system. Is this true?
I'm going to keep the msd on there. I tuned another similar setup the other day with hondata and a digital 6. It made 426whp at 18psi on 93 octane with absolutely no ignition problems.

don't get me wrong- i agree, in fact, im running hondata myself. i just also thought the speed pro to be a more advaced system..... i guess it's not after all.

So, you got the car registered and inspected with the MT's?
Any car that runs tires requiring less than 20 psi is not a street car.
It is impressive nonetheless.
2700 lbs is pretty light, compared to a lot of other cars out there.

I hate it when people interpret street cars as street "legal" cars. Josh and Allen's cars both run 10's @ the track, have full interior, stereo, and retain 99% of the amenities a stock civic si has short of power steering and AC. Open exhaust and Slicks may not pass inspection but who passes inspection these days anyways? If its tagged/registered and you drive it to the street races and to work its a street car.

expensive habit to do
you'll get hooked on the feel and bam, only time you fill up for gas is a race shop.

Props on the times... but one question...
Why switch to Hondata if the car seems to be running well the way it is now? I'd like to know purely for educational reasons.
And why bitch about the tires? You think anyone in their right mind is going to run a FWD 400+ Hp Honda on regular ol' street tires?
Anyways... huge props!
