would you throw a hand full of sand into your intake? so why would you run without a filter? it cant be good for rings. but do what u want.

I did the samething to my car on the dyno. I'm running an ITR intake from my turbo to my filter.

filter 398
without 398.6
without intake 398.8

That's about what I got when I checked the filter/no filter issue on my turbo Maxima. With filter, the car made 301 whp, without, it made 300whp at 7psi. We actually kept taking the filter on and off alternating to check, it consistently made 299-300 w/o filter and 300-301 w/ filter. So there really isn't a difference. I have no intake pipe on mine though, just an HKS filter directly on the turbo. We had to go with the HKS because of space issues, the turbo is right behind my driver side headlight.

run #58 without a filter

we left the piping on the turbo so it was pullin air from right behind the passenger headlight.

we also made one pull with the intake tube off (and no filter)
the turbo was pulling air from right behind the radiator that time.
we lost 10 whp.

the difference is so small, there is no reason to run WITHOUT a filter
