Default Fair price for installation?

As much as i hate to admit it, i don't feel comfortable installing my turbocharger. I would rather either work with someone who does or pay someone to do it. This brings me to my question, what do you feel is a fair price to pay someone, either a fellow enthusiast or a shop, to install the kit? I've been quoted $800 but there si no way i am paying that. Any help would be much appreciated. And if anyone wants to do it let me know.

I went through the same thinking you did. I called around and places quoted me 6-800. In a way I take it as a blessing that it was so expensive. b/c it forced me to do it myself (on my only car). Having never even changed the oil on a car, and with only very basic hand tools and a dremel, I got the job done in 3 5hour afternoons (that ibcluded having to wait for my wife to get home to drive me to the store to get more tools). Take your time, read everything you can, and do it yourself. Think of it this way, that 800 you just saved can be put towards all kinds of stuff, whether it be better parts for the turbo, or a kick *** suspension, or just sitting int he bank for later use.

do all the research you can and get so buddys over and do it your self, its not that hard if you can undo bolts and take things off and put new things on and retighten the bolts then you can do it, and also save some money, look at it this way you will have more skills when it comes to working on your car and hands on is the best way to learn

I charge 300-500 usually. 800 works out to be about $100/hr for labor. thats pretty excessive. 50-70 is fair I think.

If you really don't think you can do it right, don't. You might save 800 trying it yourself but cost yourself thousands more from some stupid mistake.

Great example that people who don't know much can learn... me included [when I bought my Apex ws coil kit]... something simple as suspension install I couldn't do... and was afraid to do it... until my friend forced me to do it my-self.. he helped and walked me through it but... still. Given that turbo kit installations are harder... what the guy said above should be great inspiration lol... oh yea def read a lot ... A LOT. You'll be so much happier having that thing run after you put the work behind it.. a sense of appreciation obviously.

if you have a kit, just do it yourself.
