F23A1 Auto + Turbo Kit Setup - HELP !
Hey guys, I'm planning to Turbo charge my F23A1 Auto with a Turbo Kit. Since the Turbo would be turning this car from 150hp to 210hp, I'm wondering if my Auto gearbox would be alright with it ?
Do I have to change the clutch ?
Will it slip and die off after a period of time ?
Is it really possible to bolt on this turbo kit and start boosting away ?
What is it that I have to becareful with ?
Thanks all - I need your great help on this

automatic tranny have more than one clutch!!
you can boost an automatic, but what would be the point!! do a swap to manual!!
F23's are not really good engine to deal with.
it would cost you the same, but with more overall performance and more reliability to swap a H22 in your Accord

you are correct with points 1 and 2, but your way off base on the f23 not really being a good engine to deal with.

u can have a turbo on a automatic, but eventually u'll need it built. u can manage a turbo on a auto, but u'll have to learn how to work the pedal(gas pedal in boost).
run 7psi, u'll be aight, just learn how to beat on it, u can't just floor it and go through all the gears, u can, but theres gonna be some good amount of abuse on the tranny. hell, just daily driving, the turbo is gonna make it feel nice, no more worries about being super slow when the A/C is on

Do I have to change the clutch ? Built tranny or tranny swap will be necessary at some point.
Will it slip and die off after a period of time ? It will break.
Is it really possible to bolt on this turbo kit and start boosting away ? If you bolt it on correctly, yes.
What is it that I have to be careful with ? Your auto tranny will **** a brick, dont be tempted to turn up the boost, make sure you install everything right.
The F23 takes boost nicely, but at least over on the CL forum a lot of people have problems with that automatic tranny even without boost.

I had an auto on my F23 for a while. Got sick of re-building it all the time and it was way to costly. I now have a 5spd in there. If your going to boost expect the tranny to only last for about 3-4 months with normal driving before you start to see sings of it going out. Save your self time and head act by just swaping out the auto to a 5 spd.
You can turbo your auto but it will blow rather quickly. Unless your really good at re-building honda transmissions ( I became that way from default) its not worth it.

Ok, here it is for you black and white:
You CAN turbocharge your car.
however,
Your automatic transmission is weak, and will not last for a long time before it starts to slip. Automatic transmissions have more than one clutch, and are not very easy to upgrade by yourself. If you really want to turbocharge your automatic car, you will want to have your transmission upgraded by a company such as Level10. This will allow it to handle the extra power.
You would be better off converting to a Prelude engine (H22) and five speed manual transmission. You will get similar amounts of power, and it will be much more reliable than turbocharging your automatic.
