Default F20B GTX3070R VS GTX3076R VS GTX3576R

Need some help / opinions and real testing on the GTX3071R VS GTX3076R VS GTX3576R
Wanting a perfectly matched turbo suiting a F20B engine 1mm oversize pistons with H22a head for circuit/road racing with 420hp/368whp with a built motor & stock gearbox/axles
Also thinking of a 0.82 AR on hot side ?
Also how mush is to mush hp.......with a FWD circuit racer ?
Have 98 octane pump gas in New Zealand
Still learning about reading compressor maps so excuse my ignorance

I have included compressor charts from each which I have plotted :

Violet = 10psi (1.68 pressure ratio)
Medium blue = 15psi (2.0 P/R)
Purple = 20% peck flow (47.34lb/min x 0.20% = 9.47lbs/min)
Green = 20psi (2.36 P/R)
Red = min flow 20psi (2.36lb/min)
Light green = 8000rpm (42.08lb/min)
Dark blue = 9000rpm (47.34lb/min) / 20psi efficiently range

Used this Compressor Flow Map Calculator
Size of Engine In Liters = 2
Volumetric Efficiency = 90

Base flow for all three turbos
420.80hp / 42.08lb/min @ 8000rpm @20psi
470hp / 47.34lb/min @ 9000rpm @20psi
10psi = 1.68 pressure ratio (p/r)
15psi = 2.0 p/r
20psi = 2.36 p/r

Resource Garrett Turbocharges

GTX3071R @340-560hp / 1.8-3.0Litre
10psi @ 3000rpm / 11.23lb/min / 60% efficient
15psi @ 3500rpm / 15.75lb/min / 60% efficient
20psi @ 3750rmp / 19.72lb/min / 60% efficient
Powerband most efficient @20psi 4250-9000rpm @ 70-72% efficiently
8000 max rpm 76% efficient
9000 max rpm 72% efficient

GTX3076R @ 360-640hp / 1.8-3.0Litre
10psi @3500rpm / 13.10lb/min / 65% efficient
15psi @4000rpm / 18.01lb/min / 65% efficient
20psi @4250rpm / 22.35lb/min / 65% efficient
Powerband most efficient @20psi 5000-9000rpm @ 70-76% efficiently
8000 max rpm 78% efficient
9000 max rpm 76% efficient

GTX3576R @ 400-600hp / 2.0-4.5Litre
10psi @3500rpm / 13.10lb/min 65% efficient
15psi @3750rpm / 16.88lb/min 65% efficient
20psi @4500rpm / 23.67lb/min 77% efficient
Powerband most efficient @20psi 5250-9000rpm @ 70-77% efficently
8000 max rpm 78% efficient
9000 max rpm 77% efficient

For your use, I would pick the GTX3071 with a 0.63 a/r.

This is where you will have to test to form your own opinion.
The cold and hot housing options you can get through ATP makes it hard to beat.

I think for your goals that's the turbo to beat. Its going to have the best response out of the bunch and still capable of 500whp.

No love for the EFR 7163? Just trying to play devil's advocate and mention something outside of the Garrett Catalog

There's a pretty sweet efr on the classifieds right now, and a ball bearing 60 trim as well I believe. Both are great for low 400s

BorgWarner EFR 7163 Turbo - Full-Race.com
Yeah didn't know mush about them, but from what i'm researching they seem superior, so many features that garrett doesn't have.........

Will do !!

You think the price is worth it ?

seems not a lot of people aren't using these on their honda's most are garrett or precision, is this a price thing or new release (2013) ?

Also what flange and manifold is going to work the efr7163 uses t25, t4, or v band turbine housing, maybe a custom manifold is needed and internal wastegate or external seems like the efr7163 has a very efficient internal wastegate setup cable of flowing a lot of unwanted pressure vs 38mm or 44mm external ?

They are more expensive; HOWEVER, with the integrated wastegate (that is actually useful) and BOV, you save money purchasing those accessories elsewhere. If you were to buy a Tial Q bov and Tial MVS 38, you're looking at $400-450 right there. Not to mention that since they're integrated, the setup as a whole is just cleaner. There are fewer vac lines and the setup is more compact overall

plotted efr7163

10 psi @2000rpm
15 psi @2200rpm
20 psi @4500rmp

its a bit slow getting to 20psi @4500rmp vs gtx3071 @ 3750rmp, 750rpm slower ??

Its seem this is a subaru sti (direct fit) turbo and the actuator and bracket will hit the block with ramhorn manifold designed for garretts ?

Is the efr7163 the best size ?
what about the smaller efr6758 ?

There's a 6758 on the classifieds I pointed to earlier...it will make low 400s easily... it's brand new and only a bit over 1k...

lol i feel like an advertiser.

I have to fix that terminology with viable choices:

T3 open volute
T3 turbine housing
T3 flanged housing

You don't worry about the characteristics of the flanged or volute until it's actually divided at the flange.

Don't use the term "scroll" , unless it's actual description is proper to use.

Remember, a divided housing is not necessarily a "twin scroll". For the GTX3576R, there are options for both divided housing and a true twin scrolled volute. The difference in cost is easily $100 to $200 between the two.

Just one to grow on, but Riceball's GTX3576R is a great way to go for a high VE Cylinder head like the F22C
