Default F.A.S.T Fuel management

Hey guys....

the past 3 days I have been wiring our race car for the FAST system and other numerous electronics..Today we spent 5min changing the config. hit the start button....Damn! the car fired right up...I couldnt believe it! Now im sitting here on a Friday nite reading the manual(instead of scanning through it) So we can get this thing to idle and get it prepped for the dyno. I have gotta say this system kicks ***..so far.

F.A.S.T

Which FAST system do you have.. btb or seq...

The new windows program or still the orginial program?

they seem to be like 1 of the easier setups to work with...

That is a very good system! I've tuned alot of cars with it and I would highly recommend it! Hell, alot of the quickest racers are running it, yet it runs great in a street car as well!

We have the Seq. version...right now my laptop has the DOS version. The windows version did not come with mine, but I DL'd to my office computer which I have not yet transfered to my laptop. Im glad we switched to this system...For 3 yrs I have been fighting that damn Haltech which has cost us alot of wasted time and money. Hey Tony, you wouldn't have a base map for 160# that I could try out...would ya... I have read over this manual too many times tonight...I gotta hit the WV bars now...lol

Later!

Speed Pro fuel managemt is mucho nice. 3 of my friends and I use the FAST system. As for the windows version I have both.. you will find the DOS more user friendly as far a navigating thru screens. windows is just prettier to me. my 2 pennies though. Congrats on your new ecu!

Sorry, don't have a map for 1600's. We ran the speed pro when we were on gas with 96lb. and we changed to motec for the methanol setup. I'd be glad to help you with what i can though.

Also, the dos version is MUCH easier to navigate than the windows version. I only use the antique dos version.

Thats cool...Im gonna try to get this thing to idle tommorow.....There is one thing maybe you can help me with...I noticed that w/o the car running the TPS rests at 3-4% and at WOT it only goes up to 35-40%....Is there a calibration for this...Ive read but havent seen anything for this...LOL im in my living room with another unit laying on the floor with a car battery and sensors plugged...lol...

Ok, at idle you need the tps to read 13% and at full throttle over 91%. You have to take the tps sensor off the tb and move it to the other side of the little tabs on the tb. It's hard to explain, but move it and watch the tps % on the speed pro. You'll see what i'm talking about. That will solve that problem.

You are trying to idles 1600's on methanol, right? You will have a really hard time idleing them on gas!

Good choice with the Speed Pro. When i first started using the system i was doing all my map changes with the Calcom WP version software. After using the DOS version, i have to say that it is much easier and faster to make changes especially once you get all the hot keys down.

or another thing you can do is squeeze the metal tabs that the plastic nipple of the tps fits into closer together. I personally broke the tab on the tps sensor and had to get another one when I put it on the other side, but that could of been that I moved the tps over too far. Either way should work. And before you ask how to remove the tps.. get a dremel and make a slot into the rivets on the tps and then use a flat head screwdriver to remove the screws. You should read about 95% at full throttle. 10-13 at idle. Enjoy!

I fixed it!.....They sent me a couple of TPS switches and the one I so happened to put on the car was wired incorrectly! 13%-99%....One step closer...

just a warning... I've seen an older FAST (called SpeedPro then) box burn out the injector drivers... on a shakedown run, car hit 3rd gear, and it cut out fuel... needless to say the motor was toast. It also happened to another team running FAST, sorry I dont have the model #s of the unit or anything... just want you guys to be aware because it cost us 2 motors.

BTW..good choice with the Wilsons manifold TB, broke the shaft on 2 accufabs this past year, luckily no parts got sucked in the motor.

ran accufabs prior to this season with no problem.. but for some reason this batch gave us trouble...

FAST is a good system, I like it as well, but I've never had any problems out of my Haltech E6K on my turbo car. What did you run into?

a long time ago i know of one that burnt out also, the first one on a honda actually, im thinking what happened to that one was the ecu was too close to their 7al and got zapped. There are people out there that have been using the original ecus for years without a problem, so I doubt that failure is 100% due to the date its been manufactured.

Well ...I can tell you that my wide band was INOP...I replaced it with another and it worked....I went back to the original sensor and it worked...I think I have a defective plug....

Other than that it idles nice now....at around 1400-1500 with the 160# and no vtec...
