Default A/f gauge with CROME

yea I know its narrow ban but hell I'd at least like it to work
I purchased it befer I got tuned on CROME and didnt ever hook it up
the tuner told me that my O2 sensor heater was disabled but I should still geta reading because its like6-8 inches from the turbo

Now there are 4 wires on my 02 sensor

2 whites a black and a gray

Ive tried the gray and black with no luck

dont even bother with an A/F gauge. its about as accurate as you trying to throw a rock at a car 4 miles away

are you trying to get it to read on a gauge? or are you trying to get it to wok so your crome will work properly?

no CROME is fine and I dont care if its accurate I paid $60 for it I want it to work

the thing is in CROME the tuner disabled the O2 sensor on purpose so that it wouldnt change the tune any

so if I just plug into D14 on my ecu will it work like that or is there a way to get it to WORK

The ECU would regulate a stock o2 sensor's heat because an o2 sensor works by measuring current differences at a specific heat level (750F...I think ) since the o2's heater element is disabled then nothing is controlling the 02 sensor.........so to answer your question, NO. You cannot use your stock 02 sensor if the 02 heater is disabled in Crome.

I see why you want it to work though....christmas time is coming and that is very festive

You clearly do not know the function of the O2 heater. Its there to help bring the O2 to "operating temperature" sooner when the car is cold. Once the engine warms up, its fine and yes, he WILL get a reading off it. All-be-it a worthless one, but enough for a light show at least!

hmm I'll do my research and you may be right, but what controls the specific tempertaure needed for the o2...is it on the sensor?

Sorry if I was incorrect I took that off another site

I COULD be wrong on this one, but I believe that no matter what the setting is in the ECU (enabled or disabled) that you will still get a "reading" from the sensor. The setting in the ECU, if I am not mistaken, only controls weather the ECU cares about what it sees or ignores it. Tap into the white wire off the O2 sensor or to D14 at the ECU if you have an OBD-1 ECU.

The heater is used to provide better driveability and fuel economy when the engine is cold. I would also assume that on engines like the VX and HF (lower power levels) that it would also be used to stabilize the readings even after the engine is at temperature. I could be wrong, but I would assume these engines have a lower EGT. Regardless, he should still get a reading from it, but I wouldn't trust it. You shouldn't be trusting it much anyways. The only reason I have an A/F ratio gauge in my car is to see if the O2 is working and sweeping correctly. It makes a neat light show too I guess... Other then that, I rely on the wideband for ANY kind of tuning.

It doesn't matter if the heater is on, that just brings it to operating temp. O2 sensors make their own voltage, so in theory I believe it should work.

You should maybe consider selling your A/F Gauge. It will do nothing except blink some LED's. What's the purpose of that? Get something that will give you some real information like a wideband controller. You'll be much happier.
Also what's up with your avatar?

maybe your o2 sensor is bad, you know u had that crazy idle problem, which sometimes comes from a bad o2, stick a 1wire o2 in the hole and see if that gives u a better reading since it doesn't use a heater

lol damn my tuner chimed in ok the O2 works you just gotta get ut hot enough to read via more than an idle fo 10 mins

and the idle was from the bracket we made not lettin the throttle close all the way it was hangin like 1 - 2 %
