Default o2 sensor questions

When i first bought my car the o2 sensor wire was cut in half and i noticed it and connected it back together with a connector but then i noticed my car would kind of cut out after a while and check engine light would come on so i unhooked it when i got my header and didnt put it back on. the car ran fine for a year but now ive swapped in a zc and am in the process of finishing up my fuel management for turbo, but will i absolutely have to have the o2 sensor to tune? if so can i get the stock one and use my a/f gauge to monitor whether or not it goes lean?

Get a wideband. ~$300, best money you will ever spend.

you will not get accurate reading until you have a wideband.

no a narrowband gauge will not work. Narrowband gauges = ****. They will not give you any accurate information. You would be running an afr of around 13.5 and your af gauge would probably read full rich. If you are tuning you absolutely must have a wideband o2 sensor. There is no way around it.
