Default external wastegate question

there are two openings on the wastegate that needs to be connected. one of them marked with "boost" is connected to the compressor side of the turbo. the other side marked "vacuum" should be connected to a vacuum port after the throttle.

what happens if i don't connect the vacuum port on the wastegate? does that mean the wastegate won't close and i won't have any boost going to the turbo?

all i know if its a tial, connect the vacuum to the side, and the top only if youre using an electric boost controller, manual boost controller uses the same side port

the top is used for a manual or electric boost controller

i guess im wrong, but i thought i had hear dthat, BUT,..... im guessing your manual is a ball and spring... with it NOT in teh side port, yor giving boost to teh wg before desired max boost, thus slowing down spool up time, in otehr words, if you had it in teh mbc in the side, the wg wont see any boost till desired spoolup, justmy theory, i was running no mbc, but when i put it in the side port spool up was so much better

as of now

the top (which says "vacuum") is not connected to anything

the side of the wastegate is connected to the side of the turbo (compressor side)

i haven't installed the boost guage yet, but i'll do it tonight

also, my car isn't any faster, actually slower when it hits Vtec...

any ideas?

you can really do either way, I have seen electronic BC with no top port conencted to anything, and it works fine.

try either one and see what kind of response, lag or spike you;re getting and adjust accordingly.

I plug up side port on the turbo, top port goes to MBC, side port to VAc source and it works perfectly for me

Anyone got any idea as to how much the pressure difference will be between the port on the compressor housing and the intake manifold?

Your wastegate would open earlier with the port on the comp. housing because it doesnt see pressure drop from the intercooler, etc...right?

well the way i see it is this.... i have a 7 psi spring with 8 psi mbc home brew setup ball and spring.....
so the mbc holds up all boost till it pushes the spring open at 8 psi, but after a pressure drop it would be maybe 7.75 or so psi, now with my 8 psi mbc setup if i was tapping the wg signal to the manifold, then maybe i would get the 7.75... i guess its confusing, maybe ill try the manifold, either way its working for me
