Today my car started to have excessive whitish blue smoke out the exhaust at cruising speed while being in gear, but when i get on it it goes away then returns at cruising speed while in gear. I no it sounds like a head gasket or another gasket, but my engine only has 70k. I checked my oil and its clean and my coolant is straight.
My turbo is about 2 years or so old. The smoke will start after driving my car for about 10 minutes and is present at cruising speed while in gear and a little bit at idle.
I heard it could be shaft play in the turbo or a turbo seal. Should thier be zero play or is minor play acceptable, because i took my filter off to see if thier was any play and if i nudge the shaft back and forth a few times with light force it slightly moves. Is that normal?????
I have yet to perform a compression test or leak down test, but i have a feeling thats going to be fine. WHAT DOES SOMEONE THINK <U></U> <U></U>

kinda sounds like a oil return line problem. or your turbo could just have seen better days.

how many miles on turbo?

to rule out oil seeping past the turbo, check your compressor housing and charge pipes to see if oil is in the pipe. if it is then oil is getting past the compressor seal of the turbo.

check dp to see if leakign exhaust side.

if thats good, then def do comp test and leakdown.

what about slight play in the turbo shaft???? Is that normal????

pull your plugs and check for oil deposits. If plugs look fine then most likely its the turbo.
