Engine oil light!??
Posting for a friend:
"What are the possibilities of the Oil Light coming on, what i did was change the oil pan, oil+filter, the oil pressure fitting use to be a T fitting but i charger was taken off, now i'm using a straight fitting, but it's a little longer than the OEM one."
any help would be appreciated.

Re: Engine oil light!??
Is the oil light on constantly?
If there is oil in the engine, i would start by checking to make sure the oil pressure sender unit is fully plugged in.

Re: Engine oil light!??
He only changed the oil pan correct? He didn't remove the oil pick up?
Did he use any type of thread sealer when installing the new fitting? I would recommend checking to see if the passage is blocked.
If the oil pressure switch is correctly installed, and is functionally properly, then the cause of the light is due to the lack of oil flow to the switch.

Re: Engine oil light!??
On which part?
If the oil pick up was removed, was a new one installed? Is the gasket in place? If the oil pick up was removed/replaced and the gasket wasn't installed, it would lead to poor oil circulation. That could explain the oil pressure light being on. If only the oil pan was replaced and not the pick up, then this isn't an issue.
When installing the new "straight" fitting did he seal any of the threads? Check to see if any of the sealant is blocking the oil passage.
If the oil pressure switch is properly plugged in, and it is a known good oil pressure switch (when they fail, the oil pressure light will constantly be on) then the only reason why the oil pressure light would be on constantly would be low oil flow to the switch. That's assuming there is enough oil in the engine to begin with.
Honestly, without seeing the car it difficult. Your friend needs to double check his work.
