engine mounts with high horsepower
anyone here with 400-500hp have any problems with their engine mounts? I'm trying to decide whether or not I need to replace mine. thanks.
Spring for some Hasports. I got the second to hardest version of Hasport mounts (they come in 3 flavors in case you didn't know) for my DC2 and they do their job for sure. Granted the whole car shakes at idle, that is a small price to pay to keep the engine where it is supposed to be. This is a must for 400+whp imo.

What I meant by "shakes" is there will be more engine vibration transferred into the chassis, which is easiest to notice while idling, like at a stoplight. It isn't a violent shaking, but a rhythmic vibration. I don't notice much noise associated with the vibration, but if you have a rattle in the cabin any good motor mount is going to make it worse. For what is is worth was told by Todd at Full-Race that the softest of the Hasports (which is still way stiffer then stock) allows noticeably less engine vibration if that is a concern to you. Hasport mounts are pricey but extremely high quality. When combine with a traction bar, coilovers and LSD I have yet to notice any wheel hop, which is a blessing in a 500hp fwd car.

I've been running the stock motor mounts with the turbo kit for 3 years without a problem?!?!?! Maybe my engine mounts are shot and I just dont know it. lol
Then again I also have been running a stock OEM ITR clutch for three years and it still grabbing like a champ!
Maybe I'm just easy on the drivetrain?!

You could also take off your mounts and fill them with 3M 5200...makes a very solid mount with almost no give....but be prepared for some vibrations....
for people who would like to use a solid mount setup that is removable at the race track, we will be releasing a very quick/easy solution that is integrated into our traction bars

..just a thought..

When i put my inserts in, my motor lifted up about 1.5 inches cause the mounts were so shot...
The car viabrates like hell, i can't imagine how muych more a full mount setup would help. Wheel hop has moved from a shaking engine to some other shaking parts.
Nuts stuff.

You can always go the DIY route. No, I'm not talking about 3M Window Weld. Go to http://www.mcmaster.com. Pick up a couple quarts of 2-part polyurethane casting compound and a sheet of 1/4" Delrin. I just finished my mounts this weekend, and they came out professional-looking...I'll post my behind-the-wheel impression once I get the car running.
