Engine Block # ?
Hello,
I'm new to the board so, help me out. Please?
OK, I bought a B18C1 oof the net. When I got it in the mail, the block # and series has been ground off. . . . how do I tell that it is a B18C1 and not a B16A? I know that it's a vtec block because the oil holes on the deck shows that it is a vtec block. One more thing, should I send it back ? Will I get in trouble with it if I put it in my car? What sould I do???

Seems pretty suspicious that they ground of the numbers. I would definitely do some checking the value difference between a b18c and b16a is quite conciderable. good luck.

I'd ABSOLUTELY send it back. If you get stopped by a police officer and he looks underhood and finds the block numbers missing, he's not gonna care what displacement it is - he'll take your entire car and impound it. Its tampering, and I believe it's a felony, but I know they'll take your car. So I'd box that bitch right back up and get your money back with a quickness.

Send it back. Both my buddy & I bought ITR engines for our 4 Drs. We though they were legit - we definetely paid premium prices, got receipts etc. Anyway - we put his in 1st and went to the local races the next Tuesday night to see how we'd do. We got stopped by Boy Blue, long story short - the engine was stolen. You do not need the drama. Trust me. Send it back.

Why do people buy motors off the net, why do thieves sell them on the net?
Anyway before you buy a motor you are obligated to ask questions about it like mileage reason for being removed, ie. theft recovery, accident etc and also get the serial number run by the police to see if it is stolen.
