Default endyn / je piston question

posted this in the integra forum but i think i'll get more answers here .....

just wondering.....if you look on larrys site you can see the picture of the wiseco piston when he first gets it, and then after he sands it down. i was just wondering if you could apply this same logic to sanding down the sharp edges on the je pistons....would it work just as well? negative effects? hmm just a thought.

Yes, Larry's sanding isn't magical. You can do it yourself. The practice has been around for ages. I did mine then got them coated.

Yes, as matter of fact before the wiesco days, larry would sand any pistons you sent him to get rid of all the sharp edges.

awesome, what kind of sand paper do you recommend?
should the sanding be very light? just enough to get rid of the edges?

The pistons in his piston finishing article are JE's.

Take the raw piston:

Use a carbide bit on your Dremel to knock off all the sharp edges around the valve reliefs. After that use wet/dry sandpaper to round everything off nicely:

To finish them off use Scotchbrite pads which cleans everything up:

It's not difficult and it took me about 2 hours to do all 4.
