Default EMS. uberdata and VTEC changover...

my turbo VX is still running great. i converted the O2, and im running a wideband with a box, and im right on... i can't ask for anything more from a D15Z1 longblock. lol

but my uberdata's vtec changeover is set at like 2500, and it a big stumble.

would i be able to engage vtec all the time? and run like a LS basemap? can VTEC be engaged on a cold engine if i ran vtec on a hot lead?

i know its silly, but this "E-VTEC" is a joke.. im trying to get everything out of this little thing.

Your vtec engagement is too early...
Do some reading & learn why

my redline is 6K.. AND the long block has 228K on the ticker.

ide really want a lobe locker and run like a DX. i have a D15B head, which is same as the SI's.. but the VX is just toooo much fun.

Wow,....Um...raise up your vtec there. Mayb try 4,500rpm. See if that helps.

Hopefully tuning with wideband?

yes.. im tunning with a wideband.

my A/F isn't a issue, its my hesitation that getting irritating in E-VTEC. other than that, im 12.0 A/F ALL the way to redline.. haha 6,000 RPM

doesn't e-vtec have to vtec engagements? That's probably why it engages early.

what?

VTEC is VTEC.. a variable camshaft timming. how can it engage "early"?

E-VTEC is same pricipal. only around town the long block runs around on 12 valves. in VTEC it kicks in the 4th valve giving you all 16. basicly a DX head.

ide like to lock VTEC in all the time, and run a solid non-VTEC basemap.

this was one of the reasons i didnt turbo my hx motor a few years ago, uncertainty of how it would work.

on paper it sounds like you should already be in vtec when you hit full spool, so that isnt the issue. i take it that 2500 rpms is right in the middle of daily driving and it is annoying. try raising the vtec to like 3000 or a little above. should get the crossover out of normal cruising range. it might be a tuning issue, and i think some time on the dyno will show what you need to change. good luck man

its been along time since i wrote my basemap. but i think i had it programed for like 2500 maybe even 2K... but i was noticing last night it was more like 3000. so maybe the ECU in motion, the lowest it can start VTEC is like 3000.

i can drive around normal.. thas not the issue, but if you ever take a gear long, you'll start VTEC.. (which is normal) but it hesitates sooo bad, ide just rather lock the VTEC in all the time, and deal with it as it was a normal DX head.

dont forget that the stock tachs are off, and usually read a few 100 rpms higher than you really are running.

This is what happens when vtec comes in too soon. this is off an Uberdata 1.7 map durring tuning. Funny thing is that its only set 200 rpm's sooner than stock and its that durastic, btw this is on a b16, stock head and cams

I'd try setting it around 3000 and lean out the lo cam fuel in low load sections to all the way lean on your sensor (18-20:1). This is what the vtec-e is for, take advantage of it. Try to get 40+mpg and also ~200whp under full throttle. That's what I'm talking about
