EMS experience....long
Picked up a used AEM EMS PNP 30-1000 this week for a pretty good deal, only problem was my car is a 96 OBD-2 vehicle, no problem. Made my own OBD2-1 harness converter and tested it with a 5spd P28 ECU, works great, no check engine lights.
Current motor in my car is a stock B16 w/I/H/E. My Laptop is a Toshiba running crappy windows millenium, pentium processor which seems to run the EMS okay. Got on the EMS website and download the newest .94V firmware, Programmed ECU, Uploaded base map, crossed my fingers and started the car......
It actually started, warmed up and Idled.....However!!! It ran waaaaaaaay tooooo rich, i leaned out the whole fuel map about 45% and now it is driveable but still has a hesitation when tapping the throttle in neutral, I fixed that by ACTUALLY READING THE MANUAL!!!!! and figuring out the ACCEL/DECEL fuel, TPS filter, dTP and all that other ems language. I've had the EMS for about 3 days now and it runs my motor pretty good. I've ordered my FJO wideband, so i can accurately tune my fuel maps.
My experience with the EMS is a good one, it's just hard trying to tune my motor to run like stock. For all you who want to go full stand alone ecu, make sure you understand the basics of an EFI system, have lots of patience, a wideband O2 sensor and lot's of time.

sweet.
i guess you raised your TPS filter above 30% and added fuel with dTP? I haven't been able to play with... hows 0.94 treating you overall?

overall, the .94 is pretty good, the only problem i've had is the ecu will go "off-line" every once in a while while drving. I've noticed if i keep the power cord to my lap top and the cable from the ecu seperate, it usually doesn't go off line.
Right now my TPS filter is set at 50%, the car seems to be running pretty good when "Fully" warmed up. I still have tune the car when it's cold, i haven't had much time these past couple of days. I haven't even got a chance to use the datalogging feature yet.
Mase, falconGSR are you running a wideband O2? Or know anybody that runs a wideband O2? I'm looking forward to getting my FJO and start using the autotuning feature. It's real sketchy tuning with O2 raw voltage and the AFR raw numbers.

i've never experienced the ecu offline issues. you really want to remedy that before doing any autotuning, just for safety.
i am soldering in a power outlet jack on my stereo cable / chassis ground so i dont have to power the laptop off the cigarette lighter. it just doesnt have the power.
