EGT can be affected by how much fuel your dumping into the cylinders at idle, timing, etc. Below 1000 within the first 3 minutes of idle. Is this an idle after running hard, idle after start, etc.??

I got a stock Ls turbo with a greddy egt gauge hooked up abought an inch after the turbo on the down pipe. when driving around town it's at like 300-400c when crusing on the freeway it sits at like 600-700c and when driving hard it will seldom reach upwards of 850c.

My GSR idles at 300..... cruise is the same though
