Default egt

Hey guys
I'm a newbie to the turbo thing. But I'm working on building up an ls turbo. Actually an ls/vtec turbo hopefully if I can find a head and ecu...
But anyways, I have a greddy 52mm egt gauge, minus the probe and the connectors that plug into the back of the gauge (i got it dirt cheap and it looks brand new) anyhow, what kind of probe do I need, I'd rather not spend 100 plus bucks on getting the probe greddy supplies with the gauge. And two, can anyone tell me what order the wires go in for the connectors on the back. I know the four pin connector is for constant, ground, light and ign. The second connector, I thought was supposed to be a two pin connection, but it has three, this connects to the probe I assumed? Or better yet if anyone knows how I can get the harnesses for the gauge that would be awesome. Greddy hasn't shot me an email back yet.

And, since I am new to all this, I have done a search but I want to go ahead an ask... The probe should be put in the runner for cyl 3 correct? How do I determine the distance it should be from the port? I just have aa cheapo cast manifold, should I put it elsewhere to ensure my manifold doesn't crack or will I be ok. i'd rather have it pre turbo but if the down pipe is a better solution I'll do that.
Thanks for putting up with the stupidness...
