Default Efficiency drop from a puller to a pusher fan >>

What's the average efficiency drop when converting a radiator fan from a puller to a pusher type fan.

Im currenlty running a 1600CFM puller fan and sometimes have heating issues.

i want to run this permacool 2950CFM fan, but it will only fit if i mount it as a pusher fan.

thanks,
platinum.

can you post a pic of that permacool fan, and your current radiator setup. Very interested in this.

the push method is abotu 75-80% as efficient as a puller. So let say if you hve 2500CFM fan in push mode you will only get about equivalent of a 2000CFM puller

when you switch to the other side you need to convert to push if your fan can do that. you cant just leave it as a puller it wont work since you are going against the air flow

Sorry Im a little confused, You saying switching from puller to pusher mode the fan flows less air?

yes that is correct it will not flow the same in push mode vs pull mode. Pull is way more efficent in getting the best cooling. however there is limited space in our cars so we have to move them to push.

Do you have an aluminum radiator?
I run a 1500cmf with aluminum radiator and have no problems even sitting in Honolulu traffic for one to two hours a day. Set up in sig

Boostage - yes the one in the pic is the unit i got. JEGS has them for $100

so im looking at 2950 x .75 = 2212.5CFM as a pusher. still better then my 1600CFM puller.

any increase if you make a shrow or something for the unit.

what about 2 fans. one as a pusher and one as a puller? i think the 2nd puller would get in the way of flow and decrease efficiency even more.

i dont really have overheating problems unless i do a couple runs when it's 90 + out. then i start seeing ~225 - 235 + water temps. i got some water wetter im going to add this time as well.

thanks guys,
platinum.

well i got it all hooked up. i droped 50 + degrees with this fan as a pusher, and some water wetter.

it's 3-3/4 inch.

i had to do just a tad bit of cutting where my hood release is, but that was only because i needed the fan to sit back a bit more then normal due to my wastegate placement.

Please post your results. I run a 2000 cfm 12" S blade fan that keeps cool on the highway, and even around town but if I make a pull on a warm day temps climb just like yours. the extra 900cfm from that fan should help. let me know how it works for u, oh I am using 2.5 bottles of watter wetter and pure distilled water.
