Default ECU for GSR turbo?

my friends GSR turbo idles really weird after he takes it over 8K in boost. anything before that and his car runs fine, but go above the 8 and then it starts to idle at 1500. we were thinkin it prob his ECU cuz he just remembered he was running the Spoon ECU (if i remember correctly) when he first got his swap in. I was thinkin of borrowing someone's GSR ECU to test it out but we haven't gotten in touch with him yet. anyone have any opinion on this. i'm not positive why his idel would be weird like that, but i'm thinkin his ECU isn't made to work with FI. thanks

wow. he actually used a spoon ecu for turbo applications? Don't you think that the ecu would advance ignition timing to much for a turbo gsr?

yea i was thinking the timing would be advanced already and too high. he didnt intentionally use it, just had it left over from some trades and threw it in when his swap came in cuz he didnt have a stock GSR ECU. so nows he's still running it after he put in his turbo.

think running the spoon would kill his ETs as well? i mean, the car FEELS fast, but you can't cheat the clock
