Re: ecu dizzy (RACEPAK)
you have to get your ecu "socketed" in order for it to be able to accept a "chip"
the burning process, is only a matter of taking the chip out of the ecu, putting it in the romulator, making adjustments on your computer(to fine tune the chip) ... than "burn" them adjustments onto the chip.. after that.. take the chip off the romulator, re-install back into the ecu.. go for another dyno run.... repeat the process if neccesary.
J.Davis will be able to help you out more on this subject.

Re: ecu dizzy (Dturbocivic)
please correct me if i wrong
1)take out the ecu.
2)open it.
3)desolder the EPROM.
3)burn a new onen.
4)solder new back
5)goto dyno??
thats it??.......so simplle....??

what is the best site that will explain the process best?...
didnt understand this(http://ecucontrol.com/images/finished_inside.jpg)

Re: ecu dizzy (RACEPAK)
You solder in a socket to your ECU, and then the chip plugs in and out of it easily.
You can get a chip burner and everything you need for $85-150 depending on what you buy. It's a better spend of money than an AFC by far.
What is your setup?

Re: ecu dizzy (J. Davis)
setup is on a euro civic 94 hatchback ESI
ihi rhb5
hf manifold + custom DOWNpipe
10.5''/8.5''/2.5'' intercooler
440cc injectors dsm
need to get: manual boost controller / bov / oil lines / gauges.
i will be able to buy an apexi s-vafc or v-afc (dont remember) from a frined for $60 (wires cut 5'' from instrument) isn't it worth the effort?

any one can post pictures of:
28 pin socket
4 pins "jumper" connector
TTL to RS-232 or TTL to USB converter.

Re: ecu dizzy (RACEPAK)
AFCs work, but they alter your ignition timing as much as your fuel values. You end up with ignition advanced past where it should be for the lower psi boost event. If you are intimidated with soldering and chip burners and such, an AFC might be an option for you to consider, but I'd read up on Uberdata before you run out and grab that AFC.

Re: ecu dizzy (J. Davis)
soldering is a piece of cake.
and i guess the burning process too
from what i understand the prosess goes like this:
1)take off ecu from vehicle
2)open it
3)desolder the rom.
4)burn a new rom.
5)solder new rom
6)adding/soldering some capasitors and resistors.
7)close the ecu.
8)done. go to dyno.
can someone correct me if i'm wrong

details and a picture near the bottom.
You don't remove the stock "ROM"...you desolder the holes where the auxillary ROM goes and solder in a socket [I prefer using a standard socket soldered in and a ZIF socket stacked on top] so that you can add/remove the new ROM at will.
