EBC solenoids...whats the difference?
I know from physical differences the gm style and MAC style. But as far as the MAC style is there a difference? Why i ask is...I picked up a good working Gizzmo EBC but the solenoid stayed with the car it was on cause my buddy was gonna use eCtune to control it. I have the solenoid that came with an Apexi AVC-R and was gonna use that but wanna be sure its gonna work with the Gizzmo controller. Any insight or input?
Most of the solenoid differences are simply the input ports and the voltage signal interpreted by the units they came with. Some are more usable on multiple systems than the other. Many US companies that create engine management allow for the GM & MAC solenoids to be used because that's what they base their controller around. Its not so with the GReddy & Apex'i systems because they are different models and inputs from Denso. So it may not work well with any systems from America. But it may work with Australian or British ECU systems (Like Power FC, Autronic, Motec and Techtom). Systems that are not as used in America
Different solenoids work at different frequencies. If the solenoid isn't matched to the frequency of the controller, it won't work properly.
