Default Ebay turbo kits

I just wanted to know if anyone has used it. I know a guy who had an integra ls on boost for over a year with an ebay turbo kit. I have a 93 gsr hatch and was thinking about boosting it. Any inputs?

If you read around they seem to be improving their...overall quality?? Either way it's still a good thing to shy away. I thought I'd get away with spending next to nothing on a turbo. I was wrong I'm not a grand and some deep and that's still cheaper than a lot of people get away with. But either way if you look at the top of this forum under the Forced Induction Back to Basics near the bottom there is a link to all info on ebay turbos. Read up and good luck.

thanx for replying, i kinda knew the answer to this question, Boost is not cheap!! but i just wanted to see if maybe some of the ebay stuff had gotten better.
I know how to do some stuff but im kinda new when it comes to turbo installation, oil return line and all that stuff, so i asked a shop for a turbo setup. They told me it would be from 2500-3000 and at 10psi with good tuning i would get around 300 whp. considering i have crank pulley, flywheel, skunk2 manifold. I was thinkin about doing headgasket and maybe headbolts to be safe, is 10psi too much for a daily driven car?

Stay away from the "e-bay" kits. It's more trouble than it's worth. Go with an engineered name brand ''Kit"...I promise it will be better.

The type of person that buys an ebay turbo kit doesnt seem like someone who knows how to work on a car, or how to keep it healthy with boost. Buy at your own risk, use common sense. If you know how to turbo a car then you know what kits are good. If you don't, then you shouldnt be turboing it at all.

Stay away from the ebay stuff. Some have had success with them (especially the knock off wastegates), but imho its worth it to spend some xtra $$ and have peace of mind. Depends on what you are looking for. Its all up to you.

A pieced together kit (after a bit of research) is the most cost effective way of turbocharging your ride. If you want all out quality there are a few sponsors here on h-t that sell very good kits.

To start out though you should read through the FAQ's on the top of this forum. There is a LOT of info to be learned! If you want to do it yourself, researching is the only way to go. If not, then buy a kit from a reputable company such as full-race, peakboost, AFI (i think they have complete kits) or maybe someone like spoolin performance, don't know if they have a complete kit, but Phils work is great and he is a really cool guy. I have never bought from him but he is always helpful anyway and that says a lot.

There are other manufacturers (some big shops and some not so big) that are good as well, but I'm dumb and don't feel like thinking right now. Anyway, welcome to the dark side son. GL.
