Re: Eagle rods vs. Crower rods (allmotorhonda)
First of all Both are very well made rods.
Eagles are really the best choice for most applications as they are cheep yet strong as hell.
To get technical; Eagles are really the best rod for compressive stresses (H beam design), as the Crowers are best for high RPM (I beam design). This is not to say however, that the Eagles can't take high RPM, and the Crowers can't take high compressive stress.
It's really just up to you.

Re: Eagle rods vs. Crower rods (Bryson)
eagles...seen to many break or just be out of spec. You get what you pay for. Crowers are not all they are cracked up to be either. They are kinda heavy which doesnt always mean more stout. Extra weight on a rod can actually put more strees on it because there is more force when the rod has a change in direction. Id spend my money on some Manleys... they are cheaper then crowers but a little more then eagles. Cunninghams seem to be nice rods as well.

I saw an add for Pauter rods, how are those? Anyone running them? I think they're made of titanium too. Any downsides to Ti besides the cost?

Re: Eagle rods vs. Crower rods (Stock@$$GSR)
those are alos strong *** rods. the eagles are good for mild hp cars nothign fancy. i woudlnt put them in a race motor setup though. I would go wiht manley, crower, pauter or cunningham or something in that range.
The eagles work but there maching quality is kinda *** on certain sets. and there bushings dont last very long.

Be VERY careful using Ti rods...
Short explanation:
Ti is very 'grabby' if it ever gets too close to the crank it will score the
bearing surface, bye bye crank. Special bearings are sometimes used
to help avoid this.
Also most Pauter rods are Forged steel and most regular folks can't afford
the cost/benefit ratio. (Ti rods are lighter than Steel rods of the same strength
but cost SEVERAL times more)
Pauter makes good rods.

Re: Eagle rods vs. Crower rods (Jefnes)
i wouldnt go over 400hp with eagles. one of the main problems with the eagles is the rod bolts. look at the difference between the eagles and crowers. pauter are very nice but also heavier than crower. My top choice on rods would probably be carillo or crower. look into them.

i know a lot of VW's opt for the JE piston and Pauter rod combo for high horsepower applications,
i would say for the most part, they are somewhat similar to an extent

Re: Eagle rods vs. Crower rods (BrokenVtec)
i guess im the oddball that trusts eagle over crowers.....whatever though both work ok for power. Id say like 5500 whp is the max on eagles. Not much higher for crowers though. Pauter makes good rods. carillo is good **** as well. Alot of high HP supras use em. no need for titanium.
Just my Opinion.

Has anbody tried probe rods? I can get them for a lot less than eagle or crower. And according to people around here they hold up just as well as eagle. If they are decent ill be saving money and goin that route.
