I remember earl saying in a post that the bolt size is the same, but the ones in the Pauters are a lot stronger.

Edit: here it is:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by earl &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">They do come with 5/16" bolt but you must understand that this bolt has MUCH more tensle strength than the 3/8" bolt in Eagle Rods or Crower rods. This is an extremely expensive bolt and was incorporated in that rod in order to save weight. Most B16 Pauter rods wind up in Baja class cars that must run a B16 motor. Those guys require a bad *** rod that will take a beating and live and they all use Pauters.
You must remember there are $2 bolts and there are $20 BOLTS</TD></TR></TABLE>

there are stronger bolts available for ealge rods and these blots can be torqued higher.

the tq requirements ar the same according tothat article. matter of fact some of the 3/8 bolts are the same requiements too. So ARP bolts are cheap?. the whole mess from my searches everyone was saying the rod bolts were junk because the size and only needing 28ft lbs.

maybe they are reffering to bolts where threads need to be resized.. i'm talking about custom age 625 that should be the same size but can be torqued higher.. you will need to resize rods but bolts should be the same.. its an upgrade available for 100 dollars when you purchase eagle rods.

Eagles are Carillo knock offs. The design is wonderful, the rod bolt as already pointed out is inadequate above certain already established power levels.

I actually have my Pauter work order right here in front of me and it says 50ft/lbs for the torque spec.

You guys just don't get that it's not the torque on the nut that makes a rod hold together, do you?

from all the past arguements it seems so .
like i said i saw the article on the diff rods and figured it was good info , i can count numerous posts where a ton of people on here are like ohhhh dont get em , they only have 5/16 bolts, and only 28ft lbs . why would you run a rod that only needs 28ft lbs . lol.

The more torque you can apply to a bolt without it stretching out of control, the higher the quality of the bolt.

like i said unless its a missprint, Dragsport showed most of the bolts being tq'ed to the same or right around the same levels on the Pauter rods, and the new Carillo;s i beleive too and i believe another one .

FWIW, I spoke with a tech from Eagle just the other day. ALL of their VTEC B series rods will now come standard with 3/8" ARP fasteners. They say its due to popular demand based on feedback from customers...weird, they always had it as an option so couldnt the customer just buy the "optional" rod? Kinda makes me think.

Take this as you like. I never had a problem with any of the Eagles Ive built motors with using both the 3/8 and the 5/16.

Exactly the point I was making. I understand that the big torque #'s don't always mean better holding but it speaks margins for the bolt quality.

If it's the BOLT'S fault, and the BOLT is weak, then why aren't you naysayers bashing ARP for putting out a weaksauce rodbolt in the first place?!!?

My old set up had Eagle rods 500whp 25psi, no problems with the rods at all BUT when I did the new set up I just spent extra money on the bolts to be certain I had no problems, I bought Pauter rods. Now keep in mind the Pauter B16A rods are 5/16 bolt while the GSR are 3/8 bolts. See my old post here
