E-cutout seals well???
E-cutout users, how well do your e-cutout's seal when the set to fully closed??? I noticed in this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=568844&page=2 that there might be problems with it fully sealing properly. How well has it held up for you? BTW - Please mention which brand you are using QTEC or McCord Power Plate 2 (aka MCPP2) and for how long!

My mccord seals very well. I tested it out while it's off the car and it looked good. I really haven't gotten a chance to install yet though.

mccord or quicktime, they both will seal "well" in the beginning. After opening and closing them a few times they will be prone to have a small leak which is i guess somewhat expected.
The 3 I went through eventually fell apart (The two screws actually holding the motor assembly in vibrated loose and the whole motor came apart. Loctite didn't help in scenario #'s 2 and 3

best thing i've heard was to spot weld the 2 screws that holds the plate down. and about the sealing, people have used silicone gasket around the edges to help it seal.

i am really trying hard to come up with a better way of doing this. butterfly valves just wont work.
i haven't had the inspiration yet though. too much

I'm running 2 qtec's on my car, I spot welded the screws down and leakage isn't a problem/big problem for me. I'm sure it leaks a little bit, but it doesn't sound like it's still half open or anything.

There is another one that is made that instead of using a butterfly, uses a slide door on it... It was shown on Trucks TV, but is like $230 a piece

No...just decided on a full 3" stainless turbo back instead. Less hassle.
Will keep in mind the spot welding though.

which ones did you use? I have 2 qtecs and they work perfect. ive had them on for awhile and no problems. to seal it, they recommend rtv silicone. i justed used hondabond and it works great. no leaks

i have heard a lot of bad stuff about the mccords. Before i got my quicktime, i was researching all of em. I heard bunch ofstories about the mccords and almost everyone had problems with them.

Re: (nigel)
Well, with the Quicktimes, I do think the suggestion of spot welding the two screws/bolts on the motor assembly may work.
As seen in the pic I posted of my setup, vibration has a lot to do with those screws/bolts shaking loose. Loctite did not help in this case.
I do remember a while back someone stating maybe placing the e-cutout farther back in the exhaust to eliminate high vibrations - not sure how you would set this up especially if your running anything bigger than 2.5"
The first one broke say after 3 months of rigorous opening and closing. I was basically the guinea pig at the shop for this setup so he told me to use it as frequent as I could.
The next one, the butterfly actually fell off. Fixed that by riveting it on, then the motor assembly fell apart again Went to a third but by that time, I was a little fed up and decided that having a loud car isn't that bad Fixed = full 3" stainless exhaust
