Default Dyno'd Today...

Okay im kinda dissappointed! maybe i shouldn't be. Okay I have a 98 Gs-r obd-1 ecu in a 95 vx.

(dyno'd)CAI/H/E 150 whp and a best of 14.1 1/4 before turbo.

went to the dyno today and it put down 196.6HP/152.3TQ
This was done at 8 psi. the guy asked if my plugs were done but i told him i hadn't made the gap smaller. I'm getting the plugs tomorrow. He said like .035??
He said he could feel it hesitating a little bit. he said it pretty much blows out the fire lol. So this hesitating i feel sometimes could be the spark being boosted away right lol? It drops about 6 hp at the first part of v-tec and a few more than 6 on the second part at 5800. i wish i could post the sheet. But all in all i guess its not to bad for a stock drag kit which im beginning to hate more and more each day i look in the engine bay.

drag kits suck y0!

but seriously, get the right plugs.

NGK stock # 5238 ... R5671A-9
or 1 step warmer (those are pretty cold.. higher power cars)

and think about upgrading the fmu to something better.

Those numbers do seem a little low. I have an LS and look at my numbers. That was on a waterbreak dyno too. What is your complete setup?

what stage kit do you have? what turbo? i know a guy on here that made 293whp on 10 psi with a revhard kit i think it is. those numbers dont sound 2 good. on 6 psi he made 244. and on 10 psi on my ls i made 242. hows your compression? check your plugs. dont get the 9 series get the 11 series. check out http://www.clubplug.net

A question that should have first been asked, what kind of dyno was this done on? MD, Dynojet, Dynapack ? Also, what size exhaust do you have?

Run the NGK 3330's gapped to .030 as said earlier.

You'll be very impressed by the gains you'll receive.

Why do you hate your Drag kit? Get the setup together the right way, then lets see what you do!

DO Not run that plug, it is WAY too cold for your application. your car will run like **** in boost and especially out of boost. go with a n NGK BKR7E-11 gapped to about .028. the only way youll ever need a 9series plug will be if your pushing upwards of 500hp.

PS your numbers are WAY off. no need to look at HP, just look at the torque. your torque should be at about 180wtq. check for leaks in your IC piping and exhaust before the turbo. also a compression test may be necessary but hopefully not. goodluck

Wow, I feel special again.

8 or 9 series plugs are too cold for 8 psi. Use the 3330's or BKR7's as stated above. Gap at .030 with stock ignition and .035 with MSD (or equivalent). These are guidelines I follow.

Good luck and keep us posted.

you did a lot better then me when i first had it on my gsr...pulled about 187whp and aboput 150lb tq. on a mustang dyno. i was new to turbo, and expected gains of 250+ just like you did, and was pissed just as much as you are. but at the time now that i think of it..a lot of the things i had on the car was half-***.

eventually it will get better...my last dyno i made 270whp and 190 <~~~still with the drag kit and a 2.5 exhaust. so theres hope for you. dont give up.

dont hate on your car or the the drag kit it has...everything isnt going to be perfect the first time around.

hey thanks for the replys everyone. my complete setup is drag-3 t3 turbo kit.2.25 exhaust, blitz bov, delta wastegate, the blue FMU (VORTECH?) msd blaster ss coil. 8.5 mm plug wires. One important thing is there is no exhaust gasket at the manifold. the boost gauge was reading 8 psi. i bought a vaccum box because i was having problems with my bov vaccum line. havent installed that yet. I also have skunk2 turbo cams, valves, springs and retainers for install soon. anywayz i was anxious to get my car cuz its my only one now. Im not as dissapointed as i come across. i think I let my car down lol. so its safe to say the ngks would be best right?? what kinda numbers should i see for compression?? hey thanx for the encouragement *ineedhelp* and everyone else. im gonna try and post this dyno sheet now. i will also post times from this coming saturday if the new launch pad is done at the track.

A 3" exhaust would put you closer to 210 maybe 215. I didnt see if you had bigger injectors. Or are they not needed becuase of the FMU. I say sell that FMU, buy some RC550's, and get a custom ECU or hondata.

im going to Carb & Fuel Injection Connection (DynoJet) up in Kirkland to tune my Hondata. Intec Racing in Kent also has a Dynojet. oh btw im not sure if you know or not but if you get yourself dsm 440's your going to have to get a resister box from a ef civic or crx. they're pretty cheap though from what i understand. good luck

oh thats good to know. I didnt know i needed a resistor box for the 440's. man i really need one of those for my girls h23!! how much does hondata run? any place local that carries it? Ive seen them show up now and again in the classifieds here but never had a need back then. oh and i dont have any aftermarket fuel management. just the boost dependant fmu that came with the kit.

Ditch the FMU and get some injectors and the Hondata. The engine will make more power and run safer.

BCPR7 or BKPR7, gapped to .030. If you don't dyno at least 220whp +/- 10whp @8psi, something is wrong.

I keep seeing people say get rid of the fmu, and god knows I agree with them, but the point is there is a problem right now the way the car sits.

A gsr with basic kit, fmu 7-8 psi should make Atleast 230-260 granted its a Revhard/Drag kit.

My suggestion is yes upgrade your fuel system, but before you do Find out what is the problem in your setup.

It's been asked, but I dont think its been answered. What kind of Dyno?
