Re: dyno tuning in South FL (VTC_CiViC)
I have a 2000 civic ex with a d16y8 engine and I am putting on a drag turbo kit with bigger fuel injectors and a electronic boost controller. I am also getting work done to the cylinder heads and port matched to the intake manifold. I am also getting adjustable cam gears and want those tuned correctley I want to make sure it is getting the proper fuel ratio at 10 psi to not detinate and I want lots of whp.

How exactly did you plan on 'tuning' it? Doesn't the DRAG kit use an FMU? In whic case there's not a hell of a lot you can do to 'tune' it without say an AFC??

I am not that familiar with the process, but I figured with adjustable cam gears you would need to use a dyno to get maximum horsepower. Also with the Apexi electronic boost controller it seems like it is in depth as to the boost range and all that crap. I do not really know. Are you saying that with an FMU no matter how much you boost the car the fmu provides enough fuel and air mixture??

What i'm saying is, with just a plain jane FMU setup, there's no real ability to change how much fuel you're getting during boost. You need something to control/alter fuel supply i.e. AFC or Hondata etc. An adjustable cam gear can use a litte tweaking I guess, doesn't give you alot of room to play with though since you're running an SOHC so you can tune the intake and exhaust seperatley.
IMO, save your $$ and get yourself a Hondata, then hit the dyno for some tuning
