Drag III LS, having startup problems.
Recently installed a DRAG III kit on an 97 LS and now it's having problems starting up. It takes about an hour before it will fire up and run. After it starts up it runs perfect!
Any ideas on what this could be?
They have replaced the spark plugs, check the cap/rotor...

Was the car in good running condition before the turbo kit was installed on it??
Also you might just go through and check if all of the vacume lines were plugged in and if you have any fuel leaks or anything like that, just basicly go through and check over your install agian??
Adi
P.S. Is your check engine light on??

Yup the car was in great shape before the install.
There is no CEL. He said after it gets started the car runs perfect, so kinda stumped....
any other ideas?

Maybe it is a ground wire loose. My brothers ground to his starter was loose sometimes it would start and some times it wouldnt just a thought.

We took the one that came with the kit off cause it was pumping out way too much fuel, almost 80psi. So he is using his stock setup.

Did you mess around with the cam timming at all? A fitting in the back of the block, oil pan, and exhaust manifold won't cause that problem. Its probably a plugged fuel filter, or bad injectors. I would start off by checking cam timing and pulling the distributer cap and putting the motor to top dead center, and checking to make sure that the rotor is pointing at the #1 spark plug wire. Did you also use check valves or missing links? still have the stock map sensor? You should put back in that pump that came with the kit and get a adjustable fuel regulator to turn down the psi. Also when you are trying to start the car. Do you smell the engine flooding with fuel? if not check your pump or fuses. Do you have spark? pull off a spark plug wire and stuff a old plug in it and try to start it up and look to see if you got spark. Lastly is the starter engaging when you crank it over, or is everything dead? If everything is dead, try running a new ground from your tranny to the body of the car.

Also the fuel puslation dampener on your fuel rail can cause hard starting if it goes bad. It's the round mushroom looking deal opposite the FPR on the fuel rail. That little device makes sure that the rail stays pressurized and doesn't back flow when the pump is off.
